In 1980, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts led an insurgent campaign to wrest  the Democratic Presidential nomination from incumbent President Jimmy Carter, but was unsuccessful.

In this scenario, Kennedy defeats Carter for the nomination.  Kennedy picks highly respected Senator Sam Nunn for Vice President.  Nunn has been in the Senate since 1972.  Ironically, Nunn is a U.S. Senator from Georgia, the home state of Jimmy Carter.

The Republicans nominate former California Governor Ronald Reagan for President, who picks George Bush of Texas, former Congressman, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., and former CIA Director.

1980 Election

Republican
Former Governor Ronald Reagan, California, for President
George Bush of Texas, former Congressman, former U.S. Ambassador to U.N., former CIA Director, for Vice President

Democrat
Senator Ted Kennedy, Massachusetts, for President
Senator San Nunn, Georgia, for Vice President

How does this 1980 election go?
