Frist should cut his losses and if he was considering running, he should definitely change his mind, and decide against it.

Perception is a very powerful force in politics, and whether he has done anything wrong or not, people will in large part believe he has done something wrong.

Any presidential ambitions he may have had have been dealt a critical blow, from which he will not recover.
