I have been saying in real life terms that the paradigm of the future would largely be between a right that resists elimination of jobs to technology and the a left that embraces it and tries to redistribute the profits like Andrew Yang.

Both come with big downsides and we are indeed not ready for the disruption. Also when it comes to societal stability I worry that the latter turns a large number of people into a bunch of keyboard extremists trolling about the internet all day with nothing to do. There is also a sense of value and worth that comes from being productively employed (though it would be better if such work paid higher wages).

That gets into another point, if your goal is living wage by any means one of the first steps is restricting the job destruction because otherwise it would just accelerate the elimination.
