I support this, especially since my employer keeps curtailing the accrual rate and has basically eliminated it for any part-timer who has been employed less than three years.

TBH this actually makes me want to change up the rules for employees working full time. It really shouldn't be a sudden "welfare" cliff situation at 40 hours which dissuades employers from hiring one for 40 hours.

That is a very good point, since it would naturally incline employers to double down on the "OMG NO 40 HRS", one hears constantly especially in retail and similar sectors.

What if we do something like this..

companies that have 50 or more people working for them have to in their first year of working at the companies (after 90 days) have to match the amount of hours someone works in a week with the same amount of vacation hours. Then after 2 years that have to match the hours someone works in two weeks with the same amount of vacation hours.

For example: If someone works 25 hours in one week then the company give that work 25 hours of vacation time.

Isn't that rather extreme? It would esentially mean workers would spend 50% of the time on vacation, unless I am reading it wrong?

You are reading it wrong. Lets say Tammy works on avg 31 hours a week. Then she would get 31 hours of vac time during her first year and 62 hours in her second year.

While Bob works 23 hours on avg per week, He would get 23 vac hours his first year and 46 his second.

Well if you had said, "with the same amount of vacation hours per year", that would have been more clear. Tongue
