What is interesting to notice is that it was a relatively good night for democrats in NC:
-they seem to have won the NC guv race and have lost only the treasurer race
- they have taken control of the NC supreme court now
I don't think much effort was put into the Supreme Court race by the conservative groups. Normally we get inundated with mailers about that, we got nothing this year.
Democrat Beth Wood almost lost it seems. I guess I can take credit as one one who contributed to her narrow victory. Some of the others were very close as well.
LG Dan Forest outran McCrory significantly and got reelected. The interesting thing to note was that Forest's whole pitch was on the economic and education record of the McCrory administration. At end of the day, he was far better at emphasizing that record than McCrory and was able to break through while McCrory was never able to control the narrative.
The long term Republican officers Agriculture Secretary Steve Troxler and Labor Commissioner Cherrie Berrie won by about 10%.
Raleigh News & Observer has Republican Mark Johnson ahead of three term Democratic Superintendent of Public Instruction, June Atkinson by about 50,000 votes.
