I would prefer to renegotiate the treaties first then to abandon vital efforts on other, worse drugs, all for the sake of the almightly reefer. Tongue

Therefore, I am opposed to this.

Would this require two-thirds to pass? Does it fall under the treaty provisions of the Constitution?

If we are unsuccessful, then we would consider something like this. It just seems like the more prudent approach to take, does it not?

Ah, yes, another picture I shall never see on my connection. Tongue

Yes, but aren't most wars also started by lack of prudence on the part of someone?

Wasn't "Traditional" Progressivism the kind of concept that pushed prohibition way back in the day? Tongue

no, I am talking about the brand of progressivism the JCP promoted. You know, the good ol days.

JCP? Isn't that the initials of a bankrupt department store, or something? Tongue Wink

Senators have 24 hours to object to the adoption of Amendment 54:52, which is on the prior page.

I asked Duke to do this two days ago, but all I got in return was something about drugs so take that for what its worth. Tongue

I just hope that he is available to end the amendment when the time comes. Wink

Senator X's "amendment" should be disregarded by the PPT under Article IV, Section 2, Clause 4 of the Senate's Rules, Regulations, Procedures.

I won't be regarding or disregarding anything in this bill for obvious reasons. I mean if I can fill a gap with a vote or something, then fine, but this is Duke's slot  and this is his mess to sort out procedurally thus. Tongue

Since Napoleon motioned for Cloture all subsequent actions including Nix's call for a final vote and the amendment proposed by jdb's are out of order. Said amendment may only be considered once cloture has been rejected. Also jdb's "objection" is completely out of order and irrelevant to the situation at hand.

So Duke, you need to start a vote on cloture, the rules for which are above. Once two thirds has voted in the affirmative, it may be ended and a final vote commenced. Should at any point four or more Senators vote against the said Motion, it can be declared as being failed. If any of this contradicts some clause not in the above sections, I apologize, I don't have the full text in front of me right now and it has been a while since I have done this.

There is no such time limit that I am aware of on these votes and 6 is not 2/3rds of 10 unless Clarence or somebody resigned. So the vote is still on Mr. Veep. Tongue

Cloture is still one vote short of either passing or failing at this point.

I want to restate that I plan to vote no on the final vote, as I stated earlier.

Aye (7): Averroës Nix, Kalwejt, MaxQue, Napoleon, NC Yankee sbane and Snowstalker
Nay (3): benconstine, HagridoftheDeep and jdb
Abstain (0):

Didn't Vote (1): Clarence (successor voted)
Succcessor upheld vote (1): Matt from VT

With eight votes in the affirmative, cloture can be declared as passed and a final vote thus opend by the VP.

So we have a little over four days left.

Keep talking people, we got plenty of time left to go. Evil

Senate X, have we not already repealed/replaced as opposed to replaced/repealed, when all those drugs were legalized and or decriminalized?

Okay lets talk full faith and credit of the country.

What is worse at this point then in terms of relations with other countries. Is having broken the agreement but avoiding officially reneging better or worse than officialy breaking the agreement in this manner at this juncture? Which one makes it easier to negotiate a replacement protocol or convention for these issues?

Hagrid you voted first. Tongue

Aye (6): Averroës Nix, Kalwejt, MaxQue, Nappy, sbane, Snowstalker
Nay (3): Ben, HagridoftheDeep, and jdb
Abstain (0):

Didn't Vote Yet (1): NC Yankee

I haven't seen any answers to my questions. They have probably been answered before but in the context of longer and other arguments. I would strongly encourage both sides to provide concise answers on these matters, because if you don't there is no telling how crazy Yank is going to vote on this tomorrow. Evil

I don't know for sure whether 2/3rds is required to pass a rejection of a treaty, I would just assume that it it does, since that is required for ratification of treaties by the Constitution.

I am beginning to lean towards Aye here, people. Tongue

Absolute last chance to convince me one way or the other. X, you still haven't articulate complains against this that don't already apply to the present situation, just as much if not even more so.
