I oppose the amendment, of course. 5 is overly draconian, and 6 is unnecessary. 4 is the heart of the bill, as Nix has said, and so it can stay with reforms.

Are you objecting to it then?

Aye on the Amendment!!!

For the sake of moving the bill in a more functional direction if for no other reason.

Though, I do share a lot of the concerns that Senator Hagrid has expressed.

Yes, Nix, we get it. It is something we can do. Why does that preclude us from deliberating whether or not we should?

Is there any truth to talking point that the Aurora shooter purposely avoided the largest theater and the one closest to his house, picking one smaller and futher away, that just so happened to be the only one in town that was a "Gun Free Zone"? I am not too trusting of the source from which I got that information.

The general purpose behind concealed carry is for self-defense purposes. I have grown very dubious about the theory behind openly stated "Gun Free Zones", and if wondering whether or not someone else has a gun and might shoot back deters a serial killer from starking campers (who might just be children), I am inclined to at least consider the possibility.

I am not sure what you are doing procedurally. Napoleon's amendment is currently at vote and is failing 4-5 with one having not voted and time set to expire tomorrow night. I don't think it can be rejudged as friendly in the middle of the vote.

In the second part, do you mean by chance "keep the section" as opposed to "keep the amendment"?

I didn't think that I could change my mind mid-vote (although I could change my vote, thus allowing the amendment to pass after Napoleon casts his vote) - that's why I said that I was "willing to" deem the amendment friendly rather than that I would.

How I proceed depends on which option Clarence and other members of this body prefer.

Wouldn't it be better or perhaps curry a more positive response to express a willingness to do something that you are actually able to do, as opposed to something you can't? Tongue

Vote on Amendment 54:14:

Aye (6): Averroës Nix, Clarence, HagridoftheDeep, Napoleon, NC Yankee and Snowstalker
Nay (4): Ben, Franzl, jdb, and Oakvale (Is it ironic that only TPP Senators voted no?)
Abstain (0):

Didn't Vote (0): ewww its a miracle (not really, it did take the full time)

With six votes in the affirmative, the amendment is now adopted. Debate on the bill has resumed.

I am on board with it as of now. I got what I wanted for the most part. In a perfect scenario, the regions could create and manage their own registries with enough Federal oversight and standards to ensure enough uniformity of structure, function and standards so as to produce the desired results; however, that requires a level of cooperation that would be difficult to maintain, especially when the SoIA doesn't seem to inclined to do his job, unfortunately.

Currently the Mental Health Bill is number 13 in the queue I beleive. It is my hope that by the time it reaches the floor that myslef and Duke have actually compiled a good portion of its contents so that it isn't an empty shell. Though it should be considered that is the strategy I employed with the Regulatory Reform Act back in 2010, if memory serves me. Of course that was mostly a solo act and so it was easier in some ways. This is much harder and were I not less then utterly optimistic that this Senate could possibly fail to collaborate in the composition of such while on the floor, I would be perfectly content to let it be formulated in such fashion. Chance are, Nix, Napoleon, or myself would end up composing 90% in such a scenario anyway.

We shouldn't fail in our attempt to address both and sometime between now and the commencment of summer preferably.

I ask unanimous consent to waive cloture and proceed immeidately to a final vote. Senators have 24 hours to object.

Damn, should have done this yesterday. Hagrid's statement of support is too detailed to not be considered as debate.

That said, I do still believe that parts of Section 3 are unconstitutional (although I do personally support them), but I might as well work with what's been given to me.
Bring a suit, I am sure Ebowed, will love you for it. Which reminds me...
