Looks like the veterans employment tax credit thing has a chance at passage based on Boehner clapping.

Is Ryan sleeping? Mainly good ideas, but how will we pay for it? Infrastructure and schools warms the cockles of my heart.
I like the ideas, but how are going to pay for it? He is lowering taxes on the middle, and raising on the top, which I do support, but he is not going to cut spending. He wont withdrawl us from Afghanistan. He wont cut foreign aid and our unfair alliance with Israel. I like his ideas, here, why not add Tariffs. Why not end our wars and alliances. Why not leave NAFTA. These ideas are great, but we cant pay for them without alot of cuts in defense, and social programs. This is a well worded speech demanding more stimulus basically.

Tariffs would start a trade war that could drive us back down into a deep recession or depression.

Did he say they had passed the patent reform thing today, earlier in his speech?

Yep, definitely the best speech he's given in a long time, both in delivery and tactic.

Now, will Congress deliver?  Doubt it.  The Senate is going back to work tonight, but I suspect nothing will get done.

If the house passed the patent reform, he will likely get that. There are some other pieces like the veteran employment tax credit that also seem likely to get support. He won't get the whole package brought up to a vote and passed. He will get pieces of it passed and signed into law, though.

Cantor, "Plenty of areas for common ground heard"

Reducing red tape on infrastructure, Unemployment benefits, most importantly small bus tax relief.

"Peel off the things we agree on and get them passed".

"Recession avoidance plan rather then a job creation plan" - I think Anthony Mason of CBS.
