July 14th, 2005: In another shocker of a choice by President McCain, the President would choose incumbent Senator Orrin Hatch to be the successor of Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court. His age aside, Hatch was an experience legislator and is Chairmen of the Senate Judiciary Committee. His nomination would infuriate a number of conservatives in Congress.

July 16th, 2005: On the 36th Anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11, President McCain and reformers in Congress would push a bill that would increase funding towards NASA and such. Conservatives tried to stop this, calling it "like throwing cash at a broken mule". Reformers, Coalitionists and Democrats easily voted for "Aye" over the minority conservatives and their comparable minority vote for "Nay".

July 17th, 2005: President McCain would begin his "War on Earmarks" as he put it, vetoing the Partial Economic Growth Act "pork ladden" bill in his opinion. Some Democrats decried this as "mischievous" and "onesided" and that the bill was "a needed and integral congressional bill". Some of the opponents of the veto would try and do a go over but they failed with this course of action.

July 26th, 2005: The Space Shuttle Discovery is launched on its "Return To Flight" mission. This is the first space shuttle flight in nearly 2 1/2 years since the breakup of Space Shuttle Columbia on its return from mission on February 1st, 2003.

August 6th, 2005: The Tax Code Reform Act would pass through Congress. Another one of McCain's "Political Babies" had passed and he joyously stated that "this bill has been desperately needed for the American taxpayer and now I await the bill to arrive on my desk in due speed".

August 10th, 2005: President McCain signs the Tax Code Reform Act into law, in this latest victory for McCain, he received something that other bills that hadn't been there substantially, conservative GOP support. McCain would also say that he hoped that the bill would "unburden some of the stressful paperwork of paying taxes".

August 11th, 2005: President McCain and State Secretary Danforth would call on Afghanistan to begin to shift there Democracy and begin major reforms ranging from fighting corruption in the Government, implementing a possible more Parliamentary government with a President and Prime Minister and expanding a fair and balanced political rights to their citizens. This would become apart of the "Danforth Pledge".

August 23rd, 2005: Senator Hatch would be confirmed by Congress to become the first Mormon to sit on the United States Supreme Court. This would not be without a fight as conservatives mounted a fight against Hatch but this endeavour proved futile as there attack bounced off and there numbers of opposition decreased in this fight. Senator Romney of Massachusetts gave a rebuttal to the conservative opposition, saying "All you've done is obstruct needed men and women and bills that the American people crave all because of difference in the political spectrum with your President". Quieted for now, Hatch was confirmed as such.

August 24t-25th, 2005: In a cabinet meeting, President McCain and Energy Secretary Nader would agree that they needed to "fortify" the Gulf Coast against a quickly amassing storm that seemingly is barreling towards the coast. After questioned about this by other cabinet members and debating it, McCain, Nader and there side would get what they want, a fairly sized plan for possible evacuation of major coastal cities that are labeled "undefendable" against a strong storm that it could become. The part of the plans relied on FEMA and Director James Lee Witt to do his part and ready to mobilize aid to possible affected area's. Defense Secretary Hagel would ask "What was the name of the storm again?", Nader would reply flatly "Katrina".

August 26th, 2005: FEMA Director James Lee Witt began to quickly implement immediate planning and setting out the "McCain-Nader Plan" in full force. This was of course on the word of the President and also because Katrina was barreling now headlong towards New Orleans, the possible devastation was looming and the McCain Administration was quickly moving to cement a "impregnable" fortress along the Gulf Coast.

August 27th, 2005: President McCain would personally call Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans and ask him to begin the evacuation of the city. Mayor Nagin would agree with the President, seeing that the oncoming "storm that most of us have long feared" was coming. Later that day, Mayor Nagin issued a mandatory evacuation of the city and the creation of "Refuges of last resorts" for citizens that couldn't leave.

August 28th, 2005: After the success of the "Nagin Call", President McCain called up the Governor of Louisiana and several other state Governors and asked if they could send or spare any national guardsmen to aid in the evacuation of New Orleans. A dollop of guardsmen were set from Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee to aid in the evac of New Orleans. This would show only a fraction of the grandiose "McCain-Nader Plan".

August 29th, 2005: The "Storm of 2005" came with fury. The whole entire Gulf Coast seemed to be hunkered down and prepared for the worst things to be. Though with FEMA, the McCain Administration and in turn, the readied local area, many of the gulf states were prepared. As forecasted, Katrina began to spread wreck and destruction as it plowed towards New Orleans. After it was over, pictures filtered in, New Orleans almost look if it were in ruin, as people saw this, they equated those pictures to the whole Gulf Coast as a terror flooded them.

People in the McCain Administration would try and talk down the President from heading immediately to the affected area's, this failed as Vice President LeSueur wished to go to Mississippi to visit the affected area's as well. Now with Katrina loosing strength as it dug upwards around the Mississippi River and beyond, the flooding to New Orleans wouldn't be as bad as expected as a "thank god" went to the thrown up emergency levees by the Army Corps. Late into the 29th, President McCain wouldn't have festivities for his 69th birthday as he pressured his advisors to allow him to go to New Orleans. President McCain brashness on the subject to an immediate stop in New Orleans would have consequences in the days to come.

August 30th, 2005: Vice President LeSueur would visit his old Congressional District he represented, the 2nd Mississippi Congressional district to be exact. LeSueur would famously state "Even though the storm came and chaos came with it, we will rebuild. It's the American nature to rebuild and build ourselves up. Since the times of Reconstruction and the afteryears of World War 1 and 2 and the Great Depression, this nation and every state in the Union has the spirit of rebuilding and strive in their hearts".

August 31st, 2005: After being held back by his advisers to leave some time for the national guard to begin there phase into order in the wrecked New Orleans, President McCain would set his first steps in part of the city that wasn't flooded but still showed the awe destruction of the city. The looks McCain and his advisers gave were ones of fear and disbelief but that subsided as Mayor Nagin greeted the President and exchanged there pleasantries and went on a "tour" of sorts of the city. During this tour though, a shot rang out and Mayor Nagin was hit square in the chest, secret service sprung into action and spirited the President and the Mayor away as both Nagin and McCain were wearing bullet proof vests if something about those "snipers" proved true.

September 1st, 2005: After his short time in New Orleans, President McCain would return to Washington as Vice President LeSueur would stay for the time in his homestate of Mississippi. McCain would ready himself and later that night would issue a special address to the nation. "My friends, my citizens, on August 29th, 2005, New Orleans and Gulf Coast was devastated. Now we must triumph against decay and anarchy, we must rebuild our cities, our states, our lives. I do hope that with people like Mayor Nagin, that this rebuilding process can have solid leadership...".

September 2nd, 2005: Congress speedily passes the "Gulf Coast Recovery Act", which would give funds and extra aid to the affected Gulf Coast region after Hurricane Katrina. The GCRA would be passed with near unanimous "AYE" on the piece of legislation. President McCain would quickly sign the GCRA into law.

September 4th, 2005: Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions attacks President McCain as his "overbearing sense of pride and stubbornness will only lead to Americans being killed". Attacking on his brashness that nearly led Mayor Nagin to be killed in New Orleans by sniper fire. Sessions would add that "if nothing is changed, then there is no room for me in the Republican Party".

September 7th, 2005: A first for Egypt occurs as the Egyptian Presidential race would be a multi party race between the longtime incumbent Hosni Mubarak and the Tomorrow Party and New Wadf Party candidates. Election results would of course put incumbent President Hosni Mubarak back into power with 80% of the vote, compared to Ayman Nour's 14% and Numan Gomaa with 6%. With such a lopsided victory, both Nour and Gomaa would call out Mubarak for allegations of election fraud. Mubarak rebuffed these allegations, saying that "Democracy was beginning" in Egypt. Still protesters began to rally.

September 10th, 2005: The United States State Department under the wishes of Secretary Danforth, would issue a statement over the Egyptian Election, sighting that they were pleased to see democratic reforms coming to be but stressing that "Democracy isn't a one way street". Danforth himself would say that the Egyptians needed to show solidarity but allow peaceful protest to occur against their government, sighting that it was "one of the core essentials for a stable and working democracy".

September 11th, 2005: The Liberal Democrats under Junichiro Koizumi wins a landslide victory in the Japanese general election, gathering in a complete total of nearly 300 seats to the Democrats.

September 12th, 2005: A powered left sweeps into power over the conservative coalition in the Norwegian parliamentary election and would gain the majority and would allow to implace Jens Stoltenberg as Prime Minister.

September 14th-16th, 2005: One of the largest summits is held in New York City by the United Nations. This summit was cheerfully described as a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to take bold decisions in the areas of development, security, human rights and reform of the United Nations". This hope would also come with the hopes to reform the United Nations and to change it into an effective peacekeeping and humanitarian "machine". Over the course, practically every nation was represented and had some part of speaking time to the assembled nations, the suprise came when both President McCain and Secretary Danforth arrived in New York. Secretary General Kofi Annan would propose a major package of initiatives called the "Larger Freedom". McCain and numerous other world leaders would praise Annan for his motives to "protect the certain given humans rights". The "Larger Freedom" package would slide through shortly afterwords and was added to the UN charter.

September 20th, 2005: The fourth anniversary of the 9/20 attacks would take place. President McCain and former Presidents Bush, Perot and Carter would attend the event and would lay a wreath in honor of the anniversary. McCain would declare that "freedom has been tested in the past four years and is stronger than ever. However those who disregard the need for security and awareness are doomed to repeat tragedy".

September 23rd, 2005: French President Lionel Jospin would visit France's overseas territories, namely French Guiana and the small Carribean Island holdings. The visit would push for solidarity with Paris but would be peppered with hopes of independence from France in the coming future. This hope for the future wouldn't be seen with Jospin's eyes as shortly into his stop in Pointe-a-Pitre, a shot ran out after the words "Allah Akbar!" was shouted. Jospin went down as the crowd panicked and fear sprang up after the shot. As they rushed the French official to the nearest hospital, things were uncertain of why, or who did this, if Jospin would live and a deep gnawing terror in everyone asked, "Would this happen again?".

September 25th, 2005: It is confirmed that French President Jospin will live but he will be confined to a wheelchair as the gunshots had damaged Jospins spine and the French President may be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life after this attack.

September 26th, 2005: Condolences rain from the international community as the two closest allies to France, Britain and the US make similar statements issuing a cool condolence to Jospin but also make stern warnings to terrorists that more direct action would be taken if attacks like this continued.

September 30th, 2005: After the attempted assassination attempt on French President Jospin's life, the Danish paper "Jyllands-Posten" would decide against printing a cartoon depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammed. This would lead to a number of resignations at the paper over the "sellout to self censorship".

October 1st, 2005: Bombings orchestrated by the Jemaah Islamiyah in Bali, Indonesia would kill over 20 and injure over 100.

October 4th, 2005: The conservative Democratic Action Party in Quebec protest the passage of legislation banning private health care. Democratic Action party leaders would vow to take it all the way to the highest court in Quebec.

October 10th, 2005: Australian journalist Stephen DuPont films a German solider beating a Afghan women in Kabul. Hounding her and calling her a "whore" and "holding out" on him. The video would hit the German people in a terrible way and it would soon go viral, appearing on Youtube and replayed on numerous newsnetworks. The German soldier would be quickly punished by the leaders of the German Army or Heer.

October 18th, 2005: Exxon, in conjunction with Kurdish provincial leaders, would begin oil exploration in the area. Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan would criticize the move, saying it was a "threat to precious Turkish natural resources" that straddle the border of the Iraqi Confederation and Turkey.

October 21st, 2005: The 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar is held and celebrations occur through out Great Britain but masking this holiday would be insidious motive. Midway through the day, two explosive ladden vans explode close to selected denser populated areas in London. Chaos soon rains in Britain again and the death count rises and others worry about more of these van attacks. The death toll is placed at 83, the injured and wounded is 266. Prime Minister Blair would call for a time of mourning and to also send a "bold message" to terrorists.

October 26th, 2005: Prime Minister Tony Blair announces that in conjunction, Great Britain would be sending more troops into Afghanistan to aid American and coalition forces further. This would be one part of Blair's "response" to the Trafalgar Attacks.

October 28th, 2005: A week after the Trafalgar Celebration Bombings, Osama bin Laden would release another tape of himself. In it Osama would declare that Al Qaeda was behind the Trafalgar attacks and that "with every day, month and year" soldiers were in Afghanistan, that more attacks on "the devils of the west" would occur. It now seemed that the free world was not looking down the barrel of a gun, instead they were looking at a ticking time bomb sitting directly at their feet, ready to go off at any moment.

October 31st, 2005: After calls made in the days after the 10-28-05 bin Laden tape, President McCain would announce huge overhalls for the War on Terrorism as in brash move, more troops would be sent into Afghanistan to "aid further in the rebuilding" and to "catch needed villians of terror" an aside to bin Laden. McCain would also announce funds would also flow into the distraught Pakistan.

November 1st, 2005: President Jospin and outgoing German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder would back President McCain's call for more force and prosecution to get more done in Afghanistan and to put more funding and resources into finding and capturing Osama bin Laden.

November 10th, 2005: Bombs go off in the Jordanian capitol of Amman in a coordinated strike on three popular westerner areas. These attacks would take the lives of 60 but soon the biggest shock filters out that Kofi Annan has been killed in the attacks in Amman. It soon seems that the attacks were coordinated to coinside with the Secretary General's trip to Jordan.

November 11th, 2005: Criticism reigns in on the terrorists and the attack on Amman and aid and goodwill pours into the Jordanian capitol for the death of over 60 men and women. President McCain, Prime Minister Blair and new UN Secretary General Louise Frechette would be the most vocal critics of these attacks. Both McCain and Blair would vow to secure aid and supplies to Amman, as well as tracking down the "enemies of decency and free will".

November 19th, 2005: The Amman attacks are linked to an a group of Iraqi citizens that were affiliated with local Iraqi extremist groups that resent western sway over the Iraqi Confederation.

November 28th, 2005: The first major census is begun in the Iraqi Confederation in over a decade. The late 2005 census goal would be more importantly rank the population numbers of Iraq's ethnic backdrop to end at least several of the border disputes between the internal confederated autonomous zones.

December 3rd, 2005: Nations from all around the Middle East region meet in Kuwait City, Kuwait for a mutual meeting over a binding and "tight nit" security accords with the nations of the middle east and the United States. This US move made by President McCain wishes will be coined as a "Blanket of Stars" by some critics but still, it cements the United States sway in the Middle Eastern world. The Kuwait City Accords would be ratified in little over two weeks by the attending nations.

December 6th, 2005: An Iranian c-130 Hercules airplane would crash into a ten story civilian building in Tehran. All aboard the C-130 would be killed and 34 residents in the building. The Iranian government would lay some of the blame on the United States for it's continued sanctions against Iran.

December 9th, 2005: Congress passes the Afghanistan War Investment Act of 2005. The bill would transfer more funding toward the war strategy in Afghanistan.

December 14th, 2005: Benazhir Bhutto returns to Pakistan after arguing against the growing corruption and chaos in her home nation. Bhutto would call for an allowance to hold new elections for the Pakistani Parliament.

December 23rd, 2005: The Taliban make their most daring strike into the heart of Pakistan. In response to to the return of Bhutto and Pakistan's ratification of the Kuwait City Accords, terrorist groups would bomb the capitol, Islamabad, in a brazen move, killing ten Pakistani legislatures, numerous civilians and President Soomro.

December 23rd, 2005: Chad declares a state of war against Sudan, following attacks on Adre.

December 24th, 2005: As the western world is taken aback by the ever growing violence in Pakistan, Chairmen of the Senate of Pakistan Jan Mohammad Jamali takes over as interim President of Pakistan.

December 25th, 2005: US Ambassador to Chad Donald Yamamoto would be ordered by the State Department to meet with Chadian President Idriss Deby in the capitol of M'Djamena. Yamamoto would convince Deby to meet with the Sudanese President at a neutral location. Deby would agree to this but would remark that "I believe that Sudan will not heed our calls anyway".

January 1st, 2006: The world celebrates their entrance into a new year. It is solemn though, with the growing mess in Pakistan and the spector of terrorism over so many peoples heads the only thing that people can feel good is that "2005: The Year of Hell" is over.

January 1st, 2006: On the same day marking the end of the "Year of Hell", disputes over price between Russia and Ukraine lead to Russia to cut the flow of natural gas to Ukraine.

January 5th, 2006: At the neutral meeting place of Lagos, Nigeria, Chadian and Sudanese diplomats meet. This meeting would be mediated by US State Secretary Danforth and Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit and the pair would attempt to hammer out peace, however long it could last. The Sudanese diplomats continually state that they have kept the lines of communication open and blame the "blunt men of Deby" for stopping communication between the nations. One Chadian diplomat would explode and would call Sudan a "sanctioner of murder".

January 6th, 2006: After a terrible opening, the diplomats of Chad and Sudan are convinced to come back to the diplomatic table. The meeting is as heated as was the day before, still Danforth and Gheit are able to hammer out some inroads and understandings. Danforth would say to Gheit in private that "this probably isn't enough for peace".

January 7th, 2006: The gas crisis with Ukraine and Russia is solved, ending the tense situation for Europe.

January 8th, 2006: The Banking Reform act barley passes the House. The Banking Reform Act is called "wasteful regulation of a working system" by conservatives. Enough Democrats and moderate Coalitionists and Republicans send the bill thru though.

January 14th, 2006: Using the Kuwait City Accords, the United States and the United Nations sends peacekeeper forces into the distraught Pakistan. Pakistani President Jamali welcomes this move by President McCain and do the Pakistani people as well. In one interview of a western reporter with a Pakistani farmer, the farmer would reply "anything to stop the Taliban, there the reason my family has left our home".

January 15, 2006: President McCain addresses the nation in a special address. In this address, McCain talks of the new peacekeeping intervention in Pakistan. McCain calls for international and internal support for the peacekeeping move and also stresses the needs to "safeguard the Pakistani people and to put to rest the worry of loose nuclear weapons".

January 17th, 2006: Several contingents of coalition troops stationed in Afghanistan get orders that they are being sent to Pakistan. One of these soldiers is US Sergeant Patrick Daniel "Pat" Tillman. Tillman quickly scribbles in his notebook "there's one thing that not needed, war. This whole War of Terrorism is getting ridiculous!".

January 18th, 2006: The first contingents of peacekeepers touch down in Islamabad, Pakistan. The whole peacekeeping mission has been criticized by several nations but it had also been backed by the United Nations. Though this backing is tense at that.

January 18th, 2006: The Senate would see a similar split in the vote over the Banking Reform Act of 2006. In a close vote of 53-44-3, with a handful of "AYE" voters barley on board, the bill passes. Secretary Nader would call this "another notch in the belt of reform against out of control groups like Wall Street".

January 19th, 2006: The DOW takes a dive after the passage of the Banking Reform Act of 2006 and Secretary Nader's words fuel worry and speculation of what the repercussion the '06 banking act would do. Treasury Secretary Buffett would put to rest President McCain's worries about a runaway economic downturn, saying that the "bill would set up a safety net for Wall Street" and would "allow more involvement in the banking system to make a more fair market".

January 20th, 2006: Osama bin Laden releases another tape, railing against the move by McCain and NATO to send peacekeepers to fight against the festering Taliban and Al Qaeda insurgency. Osama bin Laden remarks on the next "stage of aggression by the imperial westerners against the Muslim people" and would push again that there would be more attacks around the globe if more western soldiers remained in the Middle East.

January 23rd, 2006: Canadian general elections are held. The results make the Conservative Party the top dog to say in Canada with their leader Stephen Harper, who would be taking the reins as Prime Minister with their victory. The results were 116 Conservatives, 85 Liberals, 31 New Democrats.

January 24th, 2006: Congressman Kucinich goes on the attack against President McCain, calling the Arizonan President a "war mongering perpetrator in the endless war on terrorism". Kucinich also quips that there can be "no peace under Pop gun Johny".

January 25th, 2006: In the Palestinian Legislative Council elections, Fatah barley holds onto their majority over Hamas by a 44%-42% win.

January 25th, 2006: McCain supporting Republicans and Democrats attack Kucinich as a "unpatriotic Ohioan". Kucinich is angered by these attacks, especially from his fellow Democrats. The Congressman would then go on the warpath, attacking the Democratic Party as the new party of "Yes Men". Congressman Kucinich would also say the intervention was "illegal warfare".

January 26th, 2006: United States and Coalition forces would open up an expanded campaign in six of the eastern provinces in Afghanistan. The reasoning for this expanded campaign would to take the fight to the Taliban and their six major shadow governments in those provinces.

January 28th, 2006: The 2006 fiscal year budget is submitted to Congress. As always, it is a tight rope balancing act as the President and Congress attempt to keep the deficit as low a possible and spending to what is truly needed for the year. A number of Conservative Republicans position themselves as "Defenders of a Rational Budget" and are critical of what they perceive as "overindulgent budgets" and use the 2006 fiscal budget as a pulpit to rail against President McCain and the more moderate faction of the Republican party. The showdown would be set between these "Defenders" and President McCain's coalition.

February 2nd, 2006: Heated debate envelopes the House of Congress. Conservative reform Republicans find a voice of moderation in Congresswomen Sarah Palin, who calls for conservatives to stand by President McCain and not "divide the party anymore". Still those firebrand conservative spending hawks lead the attack that tears into the budget. Congressman John Swallow rails against the budget, saying it puts too little to aid private business. Congressman Chris Shays, a supporter of McCain and the budget, calls out "obstructionists" and remarks on the budget being "a clear and cut budget that will aid the average American". When Shays said this, Congressman Joe Wilson yelled "You Lie!". This showed how divisive the battle was going to be for the 2006 budget.

February 5th, 2006: The Green Bay Packers win against the Pittsburg Steelers by 20-13 in Super Bowl XL, at Ford Field, Detroit.

February 6th, 2006: Quebecois legislatures would introduce legislation to finally make only French in schools, the official national language and the language that all government documents will use. This sparks anger from self monickered "Quebeckers" and the Equality Party.

February 8th, 2006: The House votes of the 2006 Federal Budget. Though the budget hawks rabble rouse quite a bit, enough of "McCain's Coalition" comprising of moderate GOPers, Coalitionists and bipartisan Democrats push the Budget through. The vote is  301-116-18, with 301 for "AYE", 116 for "NAY" and 18 abstaining. The passage of the budget in the House was expected as the House is more friendly than the Senate with President McCain.

February 9th, 2006: Congressman Joe Wilson refuses to apologize to Congressman Shays. Wilson says that "I may have been caught up in the moment but my concern is valid". Wilson's Democratic and Reform Coalition opponents bombastically attack Wilson for being a "heartless obstructionist that Washington has to many of already". Even South Carolina native Agriculture Secretary Mark Sanford calls for Wilson to apologize.

February 10th, 2006: The 2006 Winter Olympics open in Quebec City, Quebec. The opening ceremonies are a proud moment for all citizens of the Republic of Quebec as a unifying forces runs through the city as both the games and the symbolic motto of the games "Je me souviens" brings a hope to Quebecois and Quebeckers alike.

February 17th, 2006: Bilinguals and "French Only" demonstrators and counter demonstrators clash in the streets of Montreal. It is a bloody affair as it all started with a thrown rock and the tense feelings between the opposing forces. When the terrorizing 132 person crowd is broken up, 14 people would be taken to the hospital, one would sadly die. This would be another sad black mark on the otherwise hopeful Quebec City games.

February 20th, 2006: The Senate passes the 2006 Federal Budget by a fair margin. With that said, as always President McCain will whip out the pen to sign. With the passage of the budget, the military funding is increased as a number of social programs loose out on funding because.

February 22nd, 2006: A plot to kill visiting Defense Secretary Hagel in Jordan is discovered and the man behind this plot is linked to Al Qaeda. The man is Ramzi Yousef, a Kuwait born Pakistani Arab. Yousef says that the attempt was "justice against the west" for the imprisonment of Yousef's Uncle, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.

February 22nd, 2006: A bomb plot is halted before it could occur by Iraqi special police forces. The attempted plot was to plant explosives in the Al Askari Mosque, a Shiite holy site, in Samarra, Iraq. If they had went through with the plot, it could have set off a wave of anger in the split Iraqi Confederation.

February 23rd, 2006: The Ugandan general election occurs on the 23rd. The results are a reelection for the incumbent, Yoweri Museveni, against his closest opponent by a 53% to 43%. Museveni's closest opponent, Kizza Besigye cries foul in the election again like the likes of the 2001 general election.

February 24th, 2006: Major bombing campaigns are carried out by insurgency against the peacekeepers in Pakistan. the attacks are centered on Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. The death toll will rise to 215 over the day.

February 25th, 2006: The Ugandan election commission certifies the election results in favor of a Museveni reelection. This won't be the end of the "Ugandan Crisis", instead another decision must be made by the Supreme Court of Uganda to officially decide because of suppressive means used during the election.

February 28th, 2006: The Quebec City Olympic games end on the 28th. Though with the hectic background fighting with multilingual and French only supporters, the Quebec games still brought together the world for short time in some hope of peace.

March 1st, 2006: Supporters of Besigye and other opposition candidates, march on the Ugandan capitol of Kampala. These protests soon turn bloody as riot police clash and forcibly disperse the crowd by tear gas. After some of the protesters still remained after that, the riot police advanced, taking down and assaulting a number of people.

March 3rd, 2006: Peacekeepers begin to train the Pakistani forces to be well equipped against the dug-in Taliban insurgents in the north and their slow but pressing advance across the Afghan-Pakistani border. One of these trainers is Sergeant Pat Tillman, who has his notebook that the other soldier's jokingly refer to as "Pat's Papers". In the notebook, Tillman scribbles, "It's strange, to train other human beings to go and kill other humans. I know this is war, but still...".

March 4th, 2006: Aaron Sorkin's developed "Secret Wars" is given the green light by NBC. "Secret Wars" plot involves the backdoor wheeling and dealing in the spy games and the CIA. The major push for this spy game television show would have it's roots in Sorkin's thoughts for the possibility to write a film script out of George Crile's book, "Charlie Wilson's War" and Sorkin's growth in the interest in the spy games after the failure of his other project, "The West Wing".

March 9th, 2006: The leaders of Denmark announce cutbacks to aid for the nation of Uganda. This will be a protest against the corruption and violence in the small African nation. Denmark joins the growing nations that have already cut funding in protest.

March 13th, 2006: With the cooperation with some of the Pakistani forces, peacekeepers mainly from Poland, the US, Canada, Britain and Germany, begin to open up a front to stop the spreading Taliban.

March 15th, 2006: In an interview with the Boston Globe, former Nunn Administration Ambassador to Kenya and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson, states on the Ugandan issue that though Museveni is an "African reformer in comparison to much of the continents politics" that "Museveni seems to be becoming a new Mugabe".

Wow, solid last couple of updates on the first quarter of Johnny Boy's second term, it seems like intraparty conflict may continue top grow come the 2006 midterm results, if candidates decide to run against so much a moderate President. Is McCain invloving Vice President LeSuer alot with the inner-going ons in the adminstration or is he getting the freeze out? March 17th, 2006: With the help from Defense Secretary Hagel and President McCain, the two remaining Iowa class battleships are saved from being stricken from the Naval Vessel Register. The age of the battleship will live on for now.

March 19th, 2006: A company of Canadian soldiers is ambushed by Mujahadeen fighters in the North-West Frontier province. This plunge into the "Deepest Darkness" of the home of the Taliban and other insurgents in the north is a risky move in the named "Operation: Anaconda 3.0". The losses for the company is heavy, with nearly 40% casualties.

March 21st, 2006: In one of the hotly contested races in the nation, the Illinois Democratic Primaries spits out State Senator Barack H. Obama as the victory and chews up incumbent Governor "Rod" Blagojevich, who was facing an growing ethics scandal. Obama will face GOP nominee James D. "Jim" Oberweis and former Green-ite and Reform Coalition nominee Rich Whitney in November.

Mach 23rd, 2006: The Netherlands and France join in cutting back funding to aid Uganda. Also, another wave of protesters is dispersed by riot police in Kampala. This time though, six people were killed in the new wave of Kampala riots.

March 27th, 2006: US Press Secretary Brooke Buchanan states at a press meeting that the US wouldn't be cutting back funding to Uganda for the time being. Buchanan elaborates the administration's position as being that they didn't want to cut back funding so it could have the opposite effects and possibly hurt the Ugandan people instead of force the political hand of Museveni.

March 29th, 2006: New Democratic Party MP Olivia Chow, in an interview with the Toronto Star, says that she doesn't like the way that "American Generals are leading Canadians into meatgrinders". This would signal backlash from a number of Canadian politicians, calling her unpatriotic. Chow though, stood by her words.

April 1st, 2006: Presidential poll numbers are released for the 1st of the new month. President McCain has lost some of his support, now hovering over 58% approval. For the time being, the Arizonan is still holding his own with the American people's favor.

April 2nd, 2006: At a rally in New York City, both former President H. Ross Perot Sr. and Vice President David Boren endorse Mayor Michael "Mike" Bloomberg for New York Governor against Democrat Eliot Spitzer. In an odd parallel, today also Commerce Secretary H. Ross Perot, Jr. holds a rally for incumbent Governor Ron Paul in Arlington, Texas.

April 4th, 2006: Protesters march on Ottawa and Toronto against Canadian involvement in the Pakistani Peacekeeping program. One of the leaders of this protest booms over the megaphone that "Did Josh want this? Did John, did Preston or James?". These names are just some of the Canadians lost in the "March 19th Massacre".

April 6th, 2006: Supporters of a harder stance against Uganda and to aid in stopping the civil rights abuse their, march on Washington, DC. It is a peaceful protest, one of the more suprising events is when Secretary Nader joins the protesters.

April 7th, 2006: President McCain meets with Secretary Nader in the Oval Office. It is a quiet meeting, cut off from the prying eyes of the national media. Nader explains himself, saying that he believes that the administration needs to join the "civilized world" and protest with more fervor against Uganda. McCain calls back, saying there are walking a tight rope and don't need this kind of open dissent. Secretary Nader asks if the President wishes him to resign. McCain responds, "No Ralph, not this time. Your the Sage of Connecticut".

April 9th, 2006: The Supreme Court of Uganda rules in a 4-3 vote that the results of the election will not be overturned. Kissa Besigye doesn't get what he wishes but he does hear straight from the mouths of a majority of the judges that there was intimidation, disqualification and other suppressive means used in the February elections.

April 11th, 2006: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad confirms that Iran has successfully produced a few grams of low grade enriched uranium. The world, already on edge, is evermore so with this turn of events. A nuclear Iran in the future is something that would not be good.

April 13th, 2006: President McCain's intercirlce meet to discuss the turn of events in Iran. In attendance are the President himself, Vice President LeSueur, State Secretary Danforth, Defense Secretary Hagel, National Security Advisor Schwartzkopff, Home Security Advisor Gates and a number of lower eschelon foreign affair advisors. The President asks bluntly "how long could it be until we see a nuclear Iran?". Hagel states that if they go along a slow schedule that "It could take them a decade. If they build on those success in nuclear prowless, we could see a nuclear Iran in a little over five instead". McCain mulls this over, five to ten years.

April 14th, 2006: The ever eccentric former Chairmen of the Reform Coalition Party John Hagelin, or the "Reform Raj", remarks that the Reform Coalition needs to "get out of it's shell and stand up to the Republican Party, the party of war and greed". Some coalitionists that are on good terms with the McCain Administration demand an apology from Hagelin, something that will never appear.

April 16th, 2006: Peacekeepers are attacked as they close in on the city of Bostan in Pakistan. The fighting is intense for the small fortified and Taliban controlled area. Even with the "March 19th Massacre", the "Anaconda Plan 3.0" is still underway. The peacekeepers, mostly made up of Polish and American forces win the battle.

April 18th, 2006: Stanford University Professor, Provost Condoleeza Rice and Republican Senatorial nominee remarks in an interview with the Los Angeles Times on President McCain's decision to send peacekeepers into Pakistan and the administrations views on the war on terrorism. Rice would state that the "United States is not the world's 911".

April 20th, 2006: Iranian leaders announce a deal with a joint uranium enrichment firm, to be held of course on Russian soil. Several days later, Iranian officials will announce that not all activity will be moved to Russian soil, effectively voiding the deal.

April 21st, 2006: On Michael Savage's radio talk show, Savage would attack Rice as a "peacenik" and someone that disguised themselves to win the primaries. Savage booms "if Rice thinks that she's the embodiment of the party of American values, she's dead wrong". Savage would continue and would announce the formation of the "Savage Nation Party" to oppose the candidacy of Condoleeza Rice in the Senate race.

April 28th, 2006: The film "United" opens first to North American audiences. "United" tells the story of the last moments of the passengers on that fateful hijacked airliner on September 20th. The actors and actresses vary along many lines, including American, Arabic, British, local Quebecois and French. The movie rakes in the money on it's opening weekend, especially in Quebec and the US, and is hailed by critics, one saying that it is "one of the most moving films of 2006".

May 1st, 2006: Across the United States, marches are held and protest are formed for greater immigration rights. These marches ranging from New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Providence and so on, gains much reporting from the news. Criticism also comes down on the protesters, some from Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh is especially pointed, not to the protesters, instead to the President. Limbaugh calls on President McCain "if he wants to show the country and his party that he doesn't have the backbone made of jello, he'll push for stiffer laws against these lawbreakers".

May 5th, 2006: The Nunn Society is founded. The Nunn society is based on the belief in arms reduction and limitation. Though it is somewhat more liberal take on former President and State Secretary Sam Nunn's views, it will gain member rapidly from both corners of the political spectrum.

May 7th, 2006: Six days after the "Great American Boycott" or the Immigration Rights May Day March, Senator Romney knocks on the office of Senator Feingold's office. Romney is swept in and meets with the Wisconsinite. "Russ", Romney begins, "we need to do something about immigration rights". "What do you have in mind Mitt?", Feingold inquires, "Well I know you work across the isle, so I'm proposing a bipartisan immigration reform bill". The two will begin discussion of the interworkings of such a bill and the nucleus of what will become the "Feingold-Romney Immigration Reform" Bill will be formed.

May 8th, 2006: Former U.S. Treasurer Pat Choate begins a campaign to gain more awareness to his home, the District of Columbia. Choate gains the assistance from DC shadow Representative Florence Pendleton, foreign affairs advisor Donna Rice and the Reform Coalition-Statehood Party, the local wing of the Reform Coalition. Choate's campaign is to gain more representative rights for the precarious District, being that it is not a territory or a state. Grassroot support will flood into the campaign at it's official website "WWW.ChoateDCawarness.com".

May 21st, 2006: The Montenegrin Referendum on either independence and the dissolution of it's bonds to Serbia, or to continue apart of the Serbian nation are put to the test. In a controversial vote, 53% of voters choose independence as 47% choose to stick with their known union with Serbia. With the threshold needed to be 55% to verify it, the referendum is practically moot.

May 22nd, 2006: Already vowing to declare independence if the votes reached over 50%, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Dukanovic declares the Republic of Montenegro. Dukanovic says that voter irregularities and other issues have tainted the vote. Serbians are taken aback, later into the day troops will be sent to restore order and reassure that Montenegrin's do not need to use violence.

May 24th, 2006: Things are tense in Montenegro but things are more tense in Kosovo. After several treaties and deals mandated by go betweens with the US and UK and the Serbians and Kosovans, those treaties and deals seem to collapse on the 24th. With tense times in Montenegro, additional Serbian forces have also been sent to keep in check Kosovo, this will come back to bite. A Serbian soldier will harass a Kosovan on the street, after giving up on the Kosovan, an angry man will pelt the Serbian soldier with rotten vegetables, screaming "you bastard's killed my wife". Soon more Kosovans surround the Serbians soldiers. A "shot heard round the world" sparks off the Serbians and the growing protests in Pristina, in the end of the small riot 8 Kosovans are dead and a dozen are wounded. This event will fan the growing embers of anger.

May 28th, 2006: After an intense debate between intermediaries, Serbia is forced to recognize Montenegro as a nation. Kosovo though, still remains an open issue and a scar upon the Balkans.

May 30th, 2006: Senator's Romney and Feingold submit a comprehensive and expansive immigration reform bill to the Senate. Conservatives furiously attack this as a "deal with the devil" and a "pathway to citizenship". President McCain will give his support to the bill and so will a string of Democrats.

June 2nd, 2006: The first meeting of Nunn Society members in held in Atlanta, Georgia. The meeting head members are Samuel Nunn's son, Brian Nunn, Senator Richard Lugar, former Senator Ted Kennedy, and former Attorney General Bill Clinton. Another one of the head members represents the international members of the new Nunn Society, this is Princess Diana of Wales. The first meeting revolves around pushing for legislation for nuclear arms reduction and peaceful procedures around the globe.

June 3rd, 2006: Debra Medina, a Republican Chairswomen who supports Governor Paul's reelection campaign, makes a gaffe when she dilly dallys on a question in a town hall format about if she did believe that Arab terrorists were behind the 9-20 attacks. Medina goes on saying that she wasn't sure if it was 100% terrorism and not "Big Government" at work also directly or indirectly. The soundbyte is picked up by the Republicans candidate for Texas Governor, former Attorney General Kay B. Hutchison, uses it to potray Paul as an "over zealous fringe supporter". Governor Paul attacks Hutchison as "playing the fear card with Texas voters".

June 8th, 2006: Former Governor George W. Bush is interviewed by Sean Hannity on "Hannity and Colmes". Bush would talk big game as he took jabs at Governor Paul and questioned if his opponent in the Senate race, incumbent appointee and eccentric Senator William "Bill" Kryzanowski, did not share the "radicalized beliefs of Debra Medina".

June 12th, 2006: Russian officials cut the supply of oil into Ukraine on the grounds of it's growing debts. Ukrainian and Western leaders will attack Russia for doing this, the Russians however will standby their decision for the time being.

June 18th, 2006: Expected incumbent Reform Coalition Party Chair Clay Mulford shocks many by announcing that he will not be running for next years Chairman election. Mulford, the man that defeated eccentric former Chair John Hagelin, will become the second chair to serve one two year term. Soon it is expected that other candidates will emerge for the heart and soul of the RCP.

June 19th, 2006: After one week of the cut in supply of oil into Ukraine from Russia in protest to the mounting Ukrainian debt, the "Russian Winter" has helped slow oil into Europe. Secretary of State Danforth is dispatched to Moscow to attempt to bring the Ukrainian and Russian leaders to a compromise, for Europe's sake.

June 21st, 2006: After two days of arrival and meeting with Ukrainian and Russian leaders, Secretary Danforth reports to President McCain. Danforth tells McCain that their is little leeway between the two nations, with one blaming another. Danforth will also joke to McCain that President Putin is "one scary man, I can't read him if he was made of ice". McCain quips "I know Dan, reason being he has no soul".

June 23rd, 2006: After bitter debates and arm twisting, a deal is reached between Ukrainian and Russian leaders on the flow of oil. For now, oil pumps through but Russia has shown it's continued sway over Eastern Europe.

June 24th, 2006: The odd Canadian Mexican Free Trade Association (CaMFTA) is officially disbanded. After the oddity of the experiment in free trade began to wear thin on Canadians and Mexicans alike, with the fears and negatives outwaying the positives. Canadian Prime Minister Harper would call this move "the best thing for Canada, to get out of a bumbled mess". Mexican President Vicente Fox would echo much more calmer and less negative things about the dissolution of CaMFTA.

June 26th, 2006: In a bitter vote, a coalition of Democrats, moderate Republicans and the few Coalitionists supporters give the needed boost to push the Feingold-Romney Immigration Reform Act through a confirmatory vote in the House of Representatives. After the victory the house, the more partisan Senate will be the challenge for the bill.

June 28th, 2006: Operation Summer Rains begins as Israeli forces begin an offensive into the Gaza Strip to deal with militants. The major reason behind the intervention has been the Hamas government's unwillingness to come down against militant groups that have been harassing Israeli forces and civilians by missile strikes. Reaction would differ around the globe. Syria and Iran would fervently denounce the Israeli action, while Egypt took a middle ground and enforced their borders, not allowing refugee's from Gaza to enter the Egyptian nation and also to stop the possible transfer of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

June 29th, 2006: Israeli forces arrest 64 Hamas government officials, ranging from cabinet members to members of the Palestinian Legislative Council. Because of the near capture of a third of the government, many Hamas officials will go into hiding to escape arrest by Israel.

June 30th, 2006: President McCain voices his strong support for Israel, when asked about the Israeli intervention into the Gaza Strip. When asked to elaborate, the President would state that "Israel has their sovereign duty to protect their citizens lives and itself. But in any undertaking, the United States urges that Israel insures that innocent civilians are not harmed in this military intervention".

July 1st, 2006: United Nations officials would release a report on the situation ongoing in Gaza. The report will highlight that the blockade and starvation techniques used by Israel will lead to Gaza running out of petrol in several days, food in less than two weeks and the danger of the entire sewage system collapsing and hospital shutdown's due to fuel shortage's would also be highlighted. UN humanitarian official Jan Egeland would say that "No one can hide from us what they're doing, neither the Palestinian nor the Israeli side. We are appalled by seeing how they're playing with the future of defenseless civilians, including children, we must understand that Gaza in the midst of a humanitarian crisis".

I honestly didn't know it was that long ago. I suppose I'll try and write up a post, though this will have to take some precedence over "Forever Mankind" for a little while.
