Palin will drop out. Probably tomorrow. To avoid scrutiny and undue media attention to their family and daughter in this time.
Obama's convention bounce diminished? Check. Base delivered? Check. $10-12 million over Labor Day weekend? Check. Base angry that the liberals have forced a good woman out of the race? Check. Sympathetic women angry for the same reason? Check. More competent running mate? Check. Everybody talking about how inexperienced Obama is (compared to Palin) for a week, and now no excuse for Obama to duck that issue for the rest of the campaign? Check. Total head fake to the Obama campaign? Check.
It's a really awkward gamble and doesn't make McCain look good, but it lets him take Pawlenty or even the evil one and make it look like he didn't want to, thus mitigating those attacks. If Palin does it soon the VP will even get to deliver an acceptance speech at the convention.
EDIT: The dropping out bit is not news or anything, just a guess.
