A speech from my hut in the mountains.

*Hughento, in comfortable shoes and wearing actual casual clothes, not those fake casuals politicians wear to look 'close to the people' comes on stage*

In 2004, a few dozen men and women, but mostly little boys (at heart or otherwise) came together and signed our first constitution. Before that, we'd already held elections and created Atlasia from nothing.

In those days, we didn't have precise guidelines for how a senator must act or when a newbie had to register to vote in the lieutenant general election for the northmidsouthwestern region. We just had 40-dd people and a lot of challenges.

Today, Atlasia has become formulaic, intircate and uninspiring. I used to come here and think 'what can I do to create a nation here? What can we, as a community, do to found a nation; to create policy and to enact all these ideological theories we all had and engage in our passions. Now, you can still get a bill passed, sure. As long as it relates to subclause 114 of R. 016 of the Ventrilloquist's Union Right bill.

what am I ranting about?

I think it's time to get rid of at least 3/4 of Atlasia.

I know this won't be well recieved. I know people have put hours and hours, sometimes even days, of work into this. People have fought hard for election victories, to get bills passed, and to get their ideological theories put into practice. But that's the thing-people are taking it way too seriously.

It's a beautiful plant that's become a weed. What started as a seed in the minds of four or five people, became a sprout with 20 or so. With 50, at the first election, the first flower bloomed. Then the seeds got carried in the wind, scattered everywhere and started devouring the other beauty.

Basically, it's way too much of a good thing.

What do you do when you get a weed infestation? You burn them. It's time for us to burn the senate bills; get rid of the elected and appointed position, slash the bullsh**t that goes on in Atlasia.

Then you get back your field, with it's pre-existing beauty and awesome potential. Careful cultivation of fun, with care to lmit weeds, and a sprinkling of rules and order, and Atlasia can become a fun place to escape to again, where people can be a part of it without being forced into rigidity.

I'm no longer politically important. I won't change anything. But my plea to the younger breed, to prominent Atlasians such as SamSpade and BenMeyers, TrueDemocrat and FuturePrez, is to curb this trend. Our 'generation' gave you a beautiful field, but we gave it to you covered in weeds. We screwed up, and ruined it. You have a chance to salvage it, and you're the ones with the power to do it. You don't know that there was anything better then this, but there truly was a glorious flower in the field, and we oldies want to see it again.

Apologies for grammar and spelling mistakes, and if I offended anyone. But I'm being honest.

If anyone comes near my hut to ask me questions they'll be shot Wink

So you want to whine from your hut but won't take part in the solution? Whatever, then, curmudgeon.

I've served in more offices then you can poke a stick at; I'e been a part of the problem. It's time for me to step back and only give some advice, not to be involved. The most interesting part of Atlasia when we first started was the elections-thats why it was originally one thread, and it was named "Atlas Fantasy Elections". Now, it's all about the government, really; and that's bad. I've been involved in Atlasia since the first election, I helped to write the original constitution, and I've had many of my bills in the senate passed or voted down, overturned in courts (damn death lovers Wink) etc. I've been involved in trying to rectify the problem for a while now, most notably when I left the senate mid-term (something I didn't want to do-unlike most people on here or in real life, I have always wanted to serve the people who elected me first-that's a key reason i'm an independent, and why I asked those who voted for me for allowance to change my circumstances in that kind of area. I've worked with people from the left and the right, run for President and served multiple senatorial terms, for different regions and districts. I've been the GM and I've come withing a handful of votes of being President. I've been involved, and now, I'm not. Partially because Atlasia as it is now is not what it was a year ao, and partially because I may be a part of the problem, along with the other old lights.

I'm giving the advice, and telling you that Atlasia was better beforehand. If you don't agree, fine, but you don't actually know what it was like before. If you're happy with it now, that's great, but you and the other newer Atlasians are seeing currently all of the good in what I see as half of the good of before, because you don't have the comparison. I was there, as was Al and Nym and Harry and Soulty, and I know all of what as good before, not just all of what's good now like you and your 'generation'-and let me tell you, they just don't compare  in quality.

You asked a question. Let me get my shotgun...

Maybe we need a (non-religious) Second Great Awakening, then.
