This is an unprecedented move and deeply alarming. I had to reread the headline twice when I saw it. It didn't sound real. Whatever you think of Trump this changes the narrative and sets a very dangerous precedent in the future where it looks like one side is trying to intimidate the other side politically. They need to explain it. The longer it goes with no explanation it goes feeds into the extremes on both sides.

Sadly I'm starting to get 2018 Mueller report vibes from this whole thing.

First of all, it's important to keep in mind that Florida is a right wing turd hole that allowed Trayvon Martin's killer to walk free. If the corrupt federal judge doesn't outright dismiss Trump's case, which she very well may, it's just going to take ONE Trump-voting juror to hang the jury and stall everything. And if he were somehow convicted, this judge would almost certainly sentence him to very light probation.

What's worse is that I fear the Republicans are coalescing and controlling the narrative around this exactly the way they did Mueller's investigation. Calling it a witch Hunt and jailing of a political opponent by Biden's administration. You have people like Marco Rubio saying stuff like that right now.

The federal government is not going to quell the rise of the radical right, that much has been made clear by their failure to act after the January 6th riots. I don't suspect this will be much different.

Trump stole tens of thousands of classified Government secrets, refused to return them, actively hid them. But despite that, he's allowed to self-surrender, does not have a mugshot taken, gets to keep his passport and is still free to roam the world. Did they also offer Trump a Burger King Whopper with cheese the way they did Dylan Roof after he walked into a church and gunned down seven black people?

Meanwhile Breonna Taylor was shot to death in her bedroom because the police went to the wrong house for a drug raid.
