I'm always skeptical of these doomsday Sunday scenarios. Let's wait and see what happens when the markets open tommorrow morning. I doubt it will be as bad as everybody makes it out to be, but make no mistake, we are in deep doo doo right now.

The DOW is only down -180 right now. The market seems to be recovering nicely, on the back of a better than expected showing for Merrill Lynch's stock.

Wow. The DOW actually fell under 11000 after the closing bell. This is the worst day Wall Street has seen in years.

The Down is down 450 at close. The traders jumped off a cliff to sell off in the last 30 minutes. It was -300 at 3:30.

You might see interest rates increase, long term.

I think the day of crisis will be Friday or Monday.

And Asia is reflective.

How many of you can actually remember the last economic shock, other than 9/11?  Seriously

Not all of us are so young....

Asia is reflective, although it looks like markets fell again today.

If this stabilizes by Monday, it's over.  It won't affect the election.

At the small cost of a good fraction of a trillion dollars. Joe sixpack will go back to not caring because the media will tell him everything is OK.

No, Joe Sixpack will look at his bank balance, call his insurance agent and see nothing has changed.  He'll smile slightly and say, "The big guys took a bullet, big deal."  Then he'll vote for McCain.

The economy as an issue is not going away. No matter how much the GOP wishes it happens.
