Good Morning, guys.  I slept very well and for a long time.  I went to bed at 2200 and didn't wake up until 0840.  I've got a headache as a result of sleeping so long.  Oops.  Today, I need to do my laundry, pay my April rent, get my paycheck, and then go to that Young Adult Fellowship at Dave and Buster's this evening.  I will probably get started on my laundry at 1130.

Bushie, just do yourself a favor and wash down god knows what you'll eat with a beer for me. Tongue

LOL!

All berries are low in sugar because they have so much fiber in them. He could eat cranberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc, and he fine.

And what's great is that they are so DELISH!  My favorite morning smoothie is a mix of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and splash of cranberry and orange juice, a cup of kale, and ~3 tbsp of flax/chai seed.  I then put in as much water as I need to acquire my desired consistency.  I sent Bushie a recipe for the same that included more grape-flavor as he described it as his favorite fruit but I know he never tried it.  And whaddya know?  A month and a half later his doctor is telling him he is nutrient-deprived.

How many fruits and vegetables have you eating since Doc said you were anemic, Bushie?

I've been eating two of the mandarin oranges each day.

Did you get the [redacted] discount card?

communion bread and grape juice.  (Baptists generally use grape juice instead of wine).

...

Ugh.  You people are the worst.  THE WORST!

An ex-Evangelical friend is trying to explain some Evangelical lingo to me and I wanted to ask Bushie for corroboration on some of it.

Is it true that the word 'worship' refers specifically to parts of a service that include singing and doesn't include communion or the sermon or whatever else?
Is it true that the word 'liturgy' is frowned upon even though the service seems to have a set order? If so, do you know why?
Is it true that communion, when given, typically comes before the sermon?

1) Worship refers to any act that we do as Christians.  it can include singing, preaching, praying, even secular work and play can be worship.  As long as we do it for the glory of God, then it can be considered worship.

2.  I don't know why my SBC convention decided to use grape juice, but it doesn't matter.  It's not an issue for me.

But aren't y'all biblical literalists? It says take this wine and drink. No metaphor there.

Like I said, I don't know why.  Please don't ask me or even think of getting on to me for decisions that were made at the national level way before my time.

Bushie, it doesn't bother you that church leadership (who are human) make all these rules and interpretations about being drunk/high/etc.?  I would be deeply disturbed by anyone seemingly trying to control my thought process.  Psychoactives can be bad but they also can be very mind-expanding.

Are non-Catholic masses just chaos? How do people know whats going on? Doesn't if feel a bit informal without a structured 'plan' for the service? (Never been to one, I'm a Catholic)

They are literally all chaos, CT, going by the strict definition of the word.  What I think you mean is spontaneity and "lack-of-pattern", and I've seen videos of these Protestants yelling and screaming and running around the building like institutionalized manic-depressives.  So yeah...

Good Saturday Afternoon!  I had a great all staff meeting.  I learned a lot of new things and met with the meat department for a few minutes and then got my schedule for GO Week.

Sunday, March 29 - 0500-1330
Monday, March 30 - 0800-1630
Tuesday, March 31 - 1130-2000
Wednesday, April 1 - 0400-1230 (Grand Opening Day)
Thursday, April 2 - 0400-1230
Friday, April 3 - 0400-1230
Saturday, April 4 - OFF
Sunday, April 5 - OFF

I don't know whose cruel idea it was to schedule me to leave at 8:00 pm on Tuesday and be right back to work at 4:00 am on Wednesday, but I thank this otherwise cruel person for giving me Easter Sunday off so I can worship my Resurrected Savior!!

So, with that, I have now entered Work Night 7!!

are you getting paid by paper check? I know you prefer that method.

For the first three weeks, then it will go into direct deposit.  Contrary to popular belief, I actually prefer direct deposit.

bushie likes paper checks because he likes to 'run errands'.  like any elderly he enjoys a trip to the post office and the bank.

I love the thought of ODF holding everybody up at the bank as he pesters the teller over trivial perceived descrepencies in his checking account.

Lunch today was water out of the water fountain...  I've got stuff I can eat when I get home, so there's no need in going out.  The day is going really well still. It's not perfect, but the job is sufficient, it pays the bills, and it's enjoyable.  I will get off at 1630 and go home and rest my feet.

So Bagel Bites and a mandarin orange because... ya know... fruit's good for ya.

From the sound of it, he won't last much longer at the job. He's quickly gone from the over the moon infatuation with his new job to calling it "sufficient." We know what comes next...

Nah, I disagree.  He hasn't hinted at any problems with management, yet.  That's always the telltale sign for Bushie at a job.  If he starts talking about how he and the boss are laughing about how slow he puts the price sticker on the package?  Then I'll worry.

Good point. That happens too. I do remember some previous jobs he's had though, where he was all gung ho about it and then started saying "it's a good job, it pays the bills." I believe the last AT&T call center job went this way. Next thing you knew it, he had quit.

That was on account of some dope-peddlin' sinful negroes.  A rather unique situation in Update lore.

Yea, Bushie's enthusiasm is trending down

How would it not?  He can be as sunshine and lollipops as he wants... he still works at a supermarket behind the meat counter.  This is so, so far from his Leave It To Beaver fantasy that he's built up over the years that there's just no way his enthusiasm is as high as he wants us to believe.  I'm quite glad he is calling it "sufficient", because that's all it is.  His nonsense about it being an amazing career move and climbing up the corporate ladder was a nauseating put-on IMO.  His realistic approach is just so much more palatable.

The second he stops with the Work Night 8 and Job Week 3 crap I'll know he's going to actually keep the job, because no one does this stuff.  You go to work and it's part of your routine and that's it.  I can't imagine even Bushie writing "Onto Work Night 137!".

Does being a preacher or pastor pay anything?  There are so many infomercials starring Sunshine Christians talking about bettering yourself.  Maybe Bushie can fill the hellfire and brimstone void?

This newest update is very ominous indeed. We've all seen this song and dance before. Everything is going exactly as it always done.

Though, in past Bushie's defense, at least he wasn't pointlessly starving himself for no reason while he worked at his past jobs. Which is ironic, because he was just sitting in a chair at these. Now he has a job with physical exertion and he's decided to fast for his entire shift. RIP Bushie, RIP job, RIP packed meats.

Like I told Dookie, I'm not seeing the actual issues with job performance that we've seen in the past.  And even if there are issues he is moving to the new store opening very soon and should be under new supervisors/management.  Fresh start, so to speak.  Perhaps I am that eternal optimist, but I don't foresee a lot of issues if Bushie can actually get there.  Once we hear about

A. Laughing about mistakes with management

or

B. Half-days and days off

...then I'll join the peanut gallery.  Until then, the meat lives on.

Good Monday Evening!  I am home from an awesome day of work!  Despite being very sore right now, today was a great day.  Like I said earlier, today was all meat prep for Wednesday's Grand Opening.  2 days down, 4 to go on this work-stretch.  I talked to the department manager and he said the 0400-1230 shift is very uncommon and is only happening to me because of the first week of the store.  Next week, I should get back to a little more pedestrian schedule.  I may still work 0500-1330, but I shouldn't have too many 0400-1230.  Although, I don't what's the difference between getting up at 0200 or 0300...  Now, onto some serious relaxing!

Bushie, you JUST started here and you plan to stay.  Why are you going to the manager and bitching about anything?

We were just in casual conversation while cutting chicken.  I wasn't complaining at all.

Hmmmm... I suppose.  Be wary of what questioning can be interpreted as to your new bosses, Bushie.  There's no need to bring up every little thought you have pertaining to your work.

The only crime about Bushie's briefly relaxing is that he used to relax with expensive softcore crap like Playboy TV.  I really hope he's graduated to 100% awesome and 100% free stuff.

Are Papa and Mama going to the grand opening?

No.  They don't want to make the drive all the way from Eastern Oklahoma County to Owasso.  That'd be a 2 hour drive and plus they don't like large crowds.

Let's be honest, Bushie.  They don't want to be surrounded by all these liberal health food fairies lest they might catch the gay.

Nah. Give them credit.

It's likely the distance. Plus, Sprouts isn't a large enough chain to earn the Brown family trust just yet.

How large does a chain in Oklahoma have to be to earn the title of "down-home cookin"?

There's plenty of religious conservatives that are health food nuts. Granted usually not in Oklahoma (I'm thinking more of like Colorado Springs or the socon areas of Orange County), but I'd imagine there's enough to keep stores like this in places like Oklahoma in business, and I'm sure most of Bushie's customers are more of these types than some organic food hippie liberal type.

It's just a joke Red but thanks.

Is he getting himself cut early from work already? Sigh.

Good Tuesday Evening!  What a fabulous day at [redacted]!  The boss said "Could you just leave early tonight, Jeff?" at 1845 so I got to go home early for NCAA basketball!  What a guy!  Praise be to glory unto Jesus!

Yep, I'm starting to worry now. If they were as busy as he said they were, they wouldn't be letting employees go early unless there was a problem.

That said, I don't think they'll fire him outright. I could see Bushie being reassigned to another place, like bag boy or something, until he is finally let go.

Yea, this is troubling.  Right before the big Grand Opening and we are getting hours off?  Not good.
