As far as I'm concerned, the student leadership can do whatever it wants to do.  I just don't get why conservatives get so worked up about some liberal kids just being kids and trying to prove a point.  I wouldn't have voted for this resolution, but I think I'll sleep tonight.

People need to stop obsessing on flags.  It's a flag, you don't need to worship it and conversely, it's not going to beat you up and call you a dirty foreigner.  In summation, it's a flag.

Well, we are one of the few Western nations that has everyone pledge allegiance to the damn thing every morning, so you have ACTUAL adults with ACTUAL lives get all worked up over these things.  If you read the article, the students don't want any flag of any nation displayed in this space because they do want to espouse any type of nationalism at all.  It's... whatever.

Are they trying to fulfill every negative stereotype conservatives have about liberals? 

Oh, who cares about the stereotypes conservatives have about liberals?  The type of people who completely worship the flag do so because they are conditioned to and told to.  There, I just stereotyped conservatives.  Do you think they care?

And of course, the American Right reminds us about their fascistic tendencies by threatening a meeting to be held about the issue with violence.

This seems like a run-of-the-mill case of some student whacktivists acting like idiots and failing to accomplish anything even remotely significant.  Happens all the time, nothing to see here folks.

Well, now that nationalist conservatives are threatening them with violence there IS something to see, unfortunately.  The American far-right are legitimate fascists and people should be reminded of this.

See my comment above regarding internet comments section. Painting an entire ideology with a single brush based on (presumably) one deranged whackjob who threatened violence is hardly fair, accurate, or.....dare I say it?.....liberal minded.

The American far right is largely fascist, Badger.  All of them don't have to threaten violence for me to understand this.
