Better to just make bullet points:

-personal growth
-they will help with my massive student debt
-they will help with/completely pay for the last 2 years of my law degree
-options in legal military careers
-I want to serve my country
-I want to get into politics one day
-get to see the world a little bit
-become a better and stronger person

...wish me luck, bitches.

Oh Dear God... Well, I hope you survive to this hell.

I've lived a pretty cozy little suburban life.  I could use a little hell.

Thanks for the kind words, peeps.

I did that too - but I just drove a taxicab for a while.

Go through a "little hell" is not really the goal here, obeop.

Really?  Come to think of it driving a taxicab was by far the most enjoyable employment I ever experienced.

Well that's not saying much, is it?

Nah, I'm just saying that a "little hell" is not exactly a deterrence.  See organized bullet points in my OP to understand my reasoning.

Trying to go JAG route? Good deal, enjoy and best of luck.

I COULD enter that program, having just completed my first year of law school.  Fortunately, if I don't immediately qualify, I can enter a program to be considered for it later on after serving for some time.  I'd be very, very interested in such a thing, because I simply have no interest in any of the traditional legal practice paths.  I went to law school with the idea of becoming a politician at the advice of a very, very successful attorney and Jon Corzine cabinet member, Jerold Zaro, urging me to go with it because of untapped J.D. degree versatility.  It's disappointing how Rutgers treated us like we are all trying to be trial lawyers.

THIs type of path, advocacy for soldiers and public service, is way more up my alley than sitting in municipal court advising teenagers about their DUI.  If I have to get my ass kicked a little bit and put myself aside for my country, so be it.  It's more fulfilling in the end.

So the update would be that I passed the entrance exam, and scored well above average, a 56 (the vast majority score between 48-52).  So, basically that means i will be able to put together a hell of case to qualify for the officer program.  Yay!

But that's not all.

The person who took me back to the testing site today was a woman named Amber.  She told me about how she's loved being able to travel around the world.  Her favorite location: Hawaii.  Her LEAST favorite: Thailand!  Naturally, I told her about a certain forumite I know that just adores the place. (but not exactly why)

So, there you have it ladies and germs... The Navy knows about opebo.
