1. Economy: HockeyDudia has a European-type mixed economy with a strong emphasis on "small-town capitalism".  There is much incentive to start up and remain a small business in HockeyDudia, including tax breaks and government subsidies; there are many regulations and protections against those businesses that conglomerate from coming into a small town and "flash" transforming the local economy (ala the Wal-Mart effect).  There is absolutely no corporate welfare, and there is no benefit to the corporate business model.

2. Governing: Representative democracy not unlike the United States.  Individual states (or provinces) have their own government, as do municipalities.  Checks and balances system involving an executive/legislative/judicial branch.  Simple majority needed in all situations.  60% needed to cancel an executive veto.  These rules filter down through all levels of government.  The filibuster is considered a crime of obstruction.  Lobbyists are simply not allowed in the national capital.

3. Healthcare: a universal single-payer system paid through a progressive national tax.  To avoid delays in treatment, a private infrastructure not unlike the U.S. is at first established, which is slowly integrated into the single-payer system.  Doctors are paid a handsome government salary.

4. Labor: Workers are given comprehensive protection.  Workweek is limited to 35 hours with six weeks paid vacation.  Workers have unlimited protection to unionize.  Minimum wage is adjusted to aggregate cost of living and is adjusted for inflation annually.

5. Foreign policy: Voluntary armed forces with a strong emphasis on humanitarian aid.  Smaller intelligence operations are used to combat terrorism, and no military action is taken without the presence of a genuine and imminent threat.

6. Cultural: There is no government endorsement of religion in any way, nor are religious institutions tax-exempt.  No religious observances are considered national holidays.  Abortion is legal through viability in all circumstances, though there are incentives to the adoption route.  Euthanasia is legal for any adult of sound mind.   Marriage is universally recognized for all couples.  Private citizens are allowed to own hunting rifles and 15-round 9mm handguns after psychological evaluations and backgrounds checks for all members of the household in which the gun will be kept.  Guns are not allowed in public areas.  Designated shooting ranges/hunting area are established and strongly enforced.

7. Education: all education is public, and emphasized in the national budget.  There is no private education.  All private education and religious instruction are to be done in conjunction with the educational curriculum, and attendance is compulsory through Grade 12.  School is paid for up through higher education.  Greater access to trade school is established, and comprehensive loan programs are available through the national government to those student who wish to commence graduate studies.

that's all I got for now

I got a hell of a lot of death points and came a hair's-breadth from being banned when I described my country.  That's right.

Did they not like where you decided to place the guillotine?
