It's a vague question since the definition of city and town varies by state. I'm going to restrict the list to the named urban core areas that make up the defined metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas (the CBSAs from the US OMB).

By that measure the closest by time is Big Rapids MI at just under 4 hours. I've been in Mecosta county on US 131, but it doesn't go through Big Rapids.
