There are new CDs for FL, NC and VA this year.

I started out the year with a trip to see the NHL Winter Classic - hockey in the mist.

MO 1,3

Total: 10

History: 2016-108; 2015-118; 2014-107; 2013-92; (2012-54; 2011-110; 2010-68 pre-remap CDs)

So far, not many.  I will, just like last year, continue to update this original post with the state, district, party that controls it and what city I was at in it!

LAST UPDATED: Wednesday, January 5th, 2017

ALREADY BEEN TO
IA-3 - Des Moines ... woke up in this one as the year began, LOL.
IA-2 - Iowa City

WILL BE IN SOON
IL-17 - Peoria (Downtown)
IL-18 - Peoria (Peoria Heights, north Peoria)
IL-13 - Champaign
IL-7 - Chicago (Downtown)
IL-5 - Chicago (O'Hare)

Did you take I-80 from Des Moines to IA City? If so, you passed through IA-1 as well. I use this site to see what CDs my route passes through.

Drove to Provincetown, MA from my home base in NY-19, so off to a rousing start for 2017 by driving through MA 1, 2, 4, 8 and 9, and just missed by a mile or so, MA 5.

I bet the Torie man now jumps into the lead. Dan and I traveled to the heart of the Main Line in Ardmore, PA to pick up a new car, taking one route there, and another one route back. Given the erosity of the CD's in eastern PA, we hit a mother load of them. In order they are upon departing NY-19: NY 18, PA-10, 17, 15, 6, 7, 2, 13, and 8, NJ 12, 7, 11 and 5, and NY-17, before entering back into NY-18.

That's 20 by my count (MA-5, NY-3, PA-8, NJ-4). Just think of what you can do with a trip to NYC. Smiley I've added at least 5 from trips to Chicago since my last update. My next update should come next weekend when I return from NV with side trips to UT and CA.

Do you travel a lot for work? I wish I could visit so many places Sad

I travel IL for work and attend conferences that take me various places. My wife and I also enjoy taking vacations that are either all or significantly involve old-fashioned road trips. Those are the kind when we spend a lot of hours off highway to see the country; the trip in Jan to NV, UT and CA was one of those.

FL-13 (home), FL-14
IL-1 (school), IL-2, IL-3, IL-7
I've since added IL-5 and, thanks to a canvassing trip to Bolingbrook, IL-11. Should be able to add IL-13 and IL-18 after the CDIL conference at the end of the month.

College Democrats of Illinois? Where's the convention this year?

Near perfect weather: 71F (22C), cloudless skies, low humidity. I spent the afternoon walking around the Chicago Botanic Gandens. The Gardens happen to be in the only CD in IL I hadn't visited yet this year.

MO had ideal weather this weekend. That worked out well to visit my mother, and then take a leisurely drive with my children's mother. In the process I added two more counties to my total, bringing it to 1613.

NC-4 (home), NC-1
FL-10, possibly FL-9 (Orlando airport appears to be split between FL-9 and FL-10)
IL 5, 7

The main terminals are in FL-10, but gates 70 and up are in FL-9 as are the eastern runways. If you were at one of those higher-numbered gates and went through the main terminal (either A or B) you were definitely in both.

I'm curious how you were only in IL-5 and 7. I assume that you got to IL by O'Hare airport with has its terminal in IL-5 (though parts of the runways are in IL-8. It's possible to get from IL-5 to IL-7 without going through other CDs but that requires a circuitous route on city streets. Usually one takes the Kennedy Expy or the Blue Line to the Loop in IL-7, and both of those go through IL-9 and IL-4 on their way between the airport and the Loop.

For FL, I don't know if I was in the higher gates, but I will look it up.

For IL, I took the L train (Blue Line) from O'Hare to downtown Chicago. I don't count underground train, but I count anywhere I go through or above city streets. What other CDs was I above/on ground?

The Blue Line is above ground as it runs down the center of the Kennedy Expy, and again for a few stops parallel to Milwaukee Av. You were in IL-8 for two stops above ground and two in IL-4.

Was I in IL-8 or IL-9? By looking at the map, I figured IL-9 is more likely.

My typo. The blue line goes through IL-9, the runway goes through IL-8.
