This whole debate seems strange to me. Going through public junior and senior high in MN in the 1970's I had no exposure to any religion in social studies. Today in IL the social science standards make no mention of any specific religion nor religion in general. An individual school might for example take a field trip to a Hindu temple as part of a course on world culture, but that is not in the mandate of the state standards.
