Seems like Schilling has a lead in the upper single digits...the Illinois gerrymander seems to have only netted Democrats a few seats, in contrast to more effective Republican gerrymanders elsewhere. Though the Democrats did get lucky in California and Arizona, which offsets things...
How you govern matters. And, if you do a bad enough job, gerrymandering isn't going to save you.

Which is why the NC Republicans are favored to hold the Assembly and flip the Congressional delegation despite their 16% approval rating.

In IL one problem was that DC relied on PVI-like numbers to build their Congressional map. The IL legislative map made no such error and stuck to 2006 and 2010 data to avoid any skew from Obama at the top of the ticket in 2008. The legislative gerrymander will be quite successful for the Dems despite horrid approval ratings for their Gov.
