It reminds me of that line from Huckleberry Finn. Huck said how he and Tom Sawyer at night lie in the grass look up into the nighttime sky try to count all the stars that will be on Counting. And then they would talk about whether the Stars we're made or just kind of.... happened
Always been been a fan of made, personally.
I assume that there's been some amount of image enhancement in that photo. I've seen the Milky Way at high altitude in the Rockies and it is spectacular. However, you would not be able to make out the landscape if it was dark enough to see that much detail in the Milky Way. There's also a lot less blue in the sky on those nights than in the photo.
Couldn't that depend on the length of the exposure?
