from the standpoint of national elections, it's amazing how long it's taken. OK hasn't voted for a Democrat for President since 1964, and hasn't voted more Democrat than the US as a whole since 1956 (including Humphrey+Wallace in '68). They haven't voted for a Democratic Senator since 1990.
