Even by the extremely cynical standards of the US Senate that was such an incredibly phony, insincere statement. While I applaud his flipflop, I can smell the stench of his bullsh!t all the way from Tennessee.

Carper's statement is pretty close to some I've seen on this board from a few posters.
Joe Biden and Rob Portman were sincere in their statements, I don't know about anyone else. These moderate Senate Democrats at this point are feeling the pressure to come out with a strong position on something that they probably don't focus on all that much, so it's unreasonable to expect something more than this.
