I should have questioned how we would come up with $50Billion but somehow I didn't expect people to care anything about cost.

Wish someone had voiced their concerns before the final vote. Admittedly, $50 billion may have been a bit extreme, but $50million would hardly do anything considering Texas alone allotted $3 billion to cancer research last year!
True that finding a cure for cancer is a project much larger than $50 million. Maybe we can consider a way to fund 5-10 Billion or so.
