Man it will be something if the racism of Kentucky Republican voters really is what saves Beshear.

First polls close in KY in 45 minutes. I honestly can't wait. I might be insane, but I love election nights. I just wish I was able to take off tomorrow...

I have a vested interest in many of tonight's elections, but I'm not tied into knots of anxiety and tension, I usually am, especially in the last three elections. I feel strangely calm.

I'll save the fretting for next year. My election day straightjacket will stay in storage until then.

It's the opposite for me. I really, really need Beshear to win. Might be the last time a Democrat does in KY in my lifetime, or for a while at least. I've been nervous ever since I voted this morning.

On another note, this marks almost exactly 4 years since I joined this forum, which was specifically for the 2019 KY race. Crazy how time has flown since then.

Streaming CNN and it actually annoys me how there are no ads, just silence during the commercial break. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather have the ads for the background noise. The silence is unsettling!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how shocked would you be if they called Kentucky at poll closing? Well, they won't until 7 when Western Kentucky polls close due to Florida 2000, but still. What if they did it then?

So will MSNBC , CNN or Fox actually have live special coverage of these elections or will it be like 2019 where they just had periodic updates of the elections during regular news coverage

CNN is doing "Election Night in America," MSNBC seems to be doing their normal schedule and have Kornacki break in occasionally.

First votes in from Laurel County!

One of the most Republican counties in the country!

We're doomed!

Beshear leads first votes from Menifee County.

Where are you seeing Menifee? I only see Laurel so far.

No surprise, Beshear's down in Casey County too!

Weird to see Menifee on CNN but Laurel/Casey on NYT?

Others saying Johnson and Knox?

With the few votes we have so far, Beshear is outrunning the Democratic row office candidates big time it seems.

Wait until we get a county with 75+% in before getting sad or excited folks

If it's the election day vote then it's over for Cameron.

If it's the early vote then Beshear is in trouble.

I'm not sure about either of those things. Idk if there even is that much of a difference between early/ED vote in some of these deep red rural counties.

25% of Taylor County in and Beshear only trails by 6? He lost it by 25 to Bevin...

Beshear expands his lead in Menifee with 24% in.

Elliott County last hurrah on the table?

Much as Alben and I have our disagreements, I trust his insights on Kentucky politics pretty well. I think if he's saying Beshear's doing alright so far, I'm alright with being cautiously optimistic.

Note I'm not ready to say "I've seen enough" or anything. I'm cautiously optimistic myself. This COULD be a blue mirage, COULD have something to do with the early vote. But overall I'd be much more worried if the numbers were different.

Will Cameron make up for apparent lost ground?

Will Andy Beshear win in a squeaker? Or are we in for a good ol' fashioned southern slaying?

Find out on the next exciting edition of Dragonball Z.

Kentucky isn’t part of the south since they were loyal to the union

Pistols at dawn, sir! We are a Southern state DESPITE that.

Well, it will be close. I still think Beshear takes it. We haven't seen anything from Fayette or Jefferson or Kenton or Campbell after all. And I think even with these early results being the most favorable for him in these counties, if he's up by 33 in a county like Floyd he can still hold on to some of those Eastern coal counties from 2019.

Bulls**t, maaybe Louisville and some of the towns along the Ohio can be Midwestern, but Bluegrass and coal country? Lol.

Appalachian culture and Antebellum south culture are quite different.

Bluegrass basically is/was Antebellum South culture though. My grandmother, god bless her, has a big painting of a Southern plantation hanging on her wall...

Didn’t we all agree Kentucky would have a major blue mirage this year due to the early votes being counted first?

The thing is even with that, even if you assume Cameron will win most of the rest of the vote in THESE particular counties, it still might not be enough for him. The race will be close, yes, but so far I have not seen any unambiguously GOOD news for Cameron.

Casey County doesn't look great for Beshear - Cameron has 77% there.

Yeah and Bevin got about the same there, it's a ridiculously Republican county. Relax.

It looks like a lot of Bourbon is in, and Cameron's up 61-39. If that's all ED vote, probably decent for Beshear, if not, that's very bad for him.

Whoops, now Bourbon's results are gone...

Yeah I knew that had to be a mistake.

Funny thing is last year I wasn't even that focused on our abortion referendum, I was so focused on all the other races with national implications. Then I just heard the pro-choice side won. Probably it's healthier to just check out until there are some concrete results, but I just can't help but obsessively overanalyze all the numbers...
