Nothing changes.
Much as I like Biden, I’m under no delusion he could ever have become president without being Obama’s VP first. Clinton was much more charismatic and would have easily crushed him at the time. Biden MIGHT have done about as well as Tsongas or Brown, but that’s the best case scenario for him. Remember that Clinton was actually seen as the more liberal candidate in some ways, and that would have also been true against Biden.
Yup, this is the correct answer. More interesting is how Biden would have done in 2000 as Clinton's VP instead of Gore.
Now that is interesting. He probably still loses FL but could hold on to NH at least as well as everything else Gore won and that would have been enough.
NM/OR/WI/IA were really close as well in 2000 so just flipping NH dem doesnt mean the Dems win in 2000
Yeah, but that's why I said if he holds on to everything else Gore won as well. Which I think he probably would have that year. I don't see anything about those states that makes me think Gore had some special appeal that allowed him to win them but Biden could not have in the same position. If anything he probably just wins them all by a bit more, plus NH. And again, that would be enough.
