East Asians being more GOP-leaning than South Asians (and more relatively affluent Hispanics being more likely to have more European ancestry) are both matters of economic status.

That's not really true. Vietnamese are the most GOP leaning group and also have one of the lowest median income among Asian ethnic groups. Indians on the other hand are one of the most Democratic but have the highest median income. Japanese also have a very high median income but vote heavily for the Democrats.
