What's he hoping to accomplish by complaining about it?
Besides, why does he want the crown? It is not as if the monarchy in England has any real meaningful power to speak of anymore. He can't rule, and cannot lead armies into battle like the kings of old.
I'd like to see the quote if there is one...
Even Diana in that bloody stupid interview in 1995 said that she believed he'd find being King incredibly restrictive. Now, he's got a lot of freedom to pursue his interests and do what he wants, he won't be able to as King, I don't see him hungry for the throne.
Plus the Queen believes that the abdication in 1936, which forced her father onto the throne, led to his death. She takes her duty seriously and she will NEVER voluntarily abdicate.
Also for people who want to skip Charles altogether... why dump William with that responsibility when he doesn't need to?
Polnut raises a number of points I had not previously considered, but with which I agree.
