Yeah, European Parliament is hilarious, having a legislative body that can't propose it's own legislation or control anything executive makes a lot of the claims about EU democracy a hollow joke.

I feel like a solution to the problem of bloating is to introduce the concept of weighted voting, to preserve delegates from minority communities and regions but reduce the number of filler MEP's who have Essenitaly nothing to do* by allowing large countries and regions to appoint fewer MEP's who's vote is weighted more heavily.

*not even backroom backstabbing as outside of a few in leadership positions there's nothing really to gain.
I must disagree. Where else can European countries dump their oldest, loudest and most obnoxious politicians?

FPÖ was the only party to oppose AFD's expulsion. Nazis gotta stick together I guess.

Official Greek Exit Polls:

ND 30
Kasselakis 16.5
PASOK 12.5
Communists 9
Velopoulos 9
Nikki 4
Konstantopoulou 3.5
Insane Supermodel 3

Everyone else under 3%.

Turnout under 40%.

Greek Exit Polls usually miss, so we'll see.

It's really incredible how remarkably stable support for KKE has been around ten percent over multiple decades now.
Similar to Japanese Communists their voters are literally just the children of reds from the Civil War.

Strong results for Volt. The children yearn to be led by pan-European aristocrats once more.

Vas leader is also very personally popular and has broken the record on the most individual votes in an European election. Some random guy on the Vas party list with just 3 thousand votes is set to be elected on the back of her votes alone.

Greece results with 93% counted

ND 27.9%
SYRIZA 14.9%
PASOK 12.9%
EL 9.5%
KKE 9.3%
NIKI 4.4%
PE 3.4%
FL 3.06%

FL veryyy close to the threshold and anyone who watches Greek elections will know that it is not complete without a party missing the threshold by 0.1%.

I'm more surprised that there are people in 2024 who still voted for Ferenc f**king Gyurcsány's party.

It looks increasingly likely both of the ego liberal lists in Italy will not pass the threshold. Azione is already confirmed to be below 4%.

What Oryx said is true but I will say that there was a genuine "green wave" in 2019 that caught many polls by surprise. Climate was then the number one issue in nearly every country. This time there was no one unifying issue so the election has devolved back into 27 separate contests.
