Eternal memory to the brave defenders of Mariupol.
https://meduza.io/en/feature/2022/04/11/they-ve-written-us-off
Quote
The last remaining soldiers still defending Mariupol against complete Russian occupation say they’ve been left without the Ukrainian authorities’ support. In a message shared through its Facebook page on April 11, the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy declared, “We’ve been defending Mariupol for 47 days now. They’ve bombed us from planes and fired at us with artillery, tanks, and other weapons. We’ve held the line with honor, achieving the impossible. But all resources eventually run out.” Meduza examines what the Facebook message says, and how others in the war have responded.

Since the start of Russia’s invasion in late February, the brigade says it received just a single delivery of 50 artillery shells, 20 mines, a handful of NLAW single-use shoulder-fired, anti-tank missile systems, and a single kit for accessing SpaceX’s Starlink satellite Internet constellation. (“Thanks, Elon! It’s withstood many airstrikes, and it’s still working!” says the Facebook post)

Quote
They gave us nothing else. […] The enemy gradually pushed us all the way back to the Azovmash factory, encircling us and pinning us down by fire, and now they’re trying to destroy us. There was the option of sending us reinforcements to strengthen and extend the city’s defense. And the brigade had options to punch through and head for our own troops. […] For more than a month, we Marines fought without ammunition resupplies, without food, without water, practically drinking from puddles and dying in heaps. […] The infantry is all dead, and now all the fighting is being done by the artillery gunners, the anti-aircraft gunners, the signalmen, the drivers, and the cooks. Even the band members. They’re dying, but they’re fighting. […] Nobody wants to communicate with us anymore because they’ve written us off. Today will likely be our final battle, since we’ve run out [of ammunition]. Next comes hand-to-hand. Then it’s death for some and captivity for others.

Journalists at the Ukrainian news outlet Novynarnia say they reached the soldier who administers the 36th Brigade’s Facebook page, and he confirmed that the page had not been hacked, though he clarified that the published message does not reflect the unit’s official position. Instead, it is “a letter from a Marine” — reportedly one of the brigade’s most senior officers — through whom the unit has maintained contact with the outside world. The officer allegedly asked to publish the letter on April 11 without revealing his name. Afterward, he ceased all communication, says Novynarnia’s source.

Extraordinary claims requires proof. I'll wait for visual confirmation. Random bits of radio chatter isn't proof btw, those can be easily faked.

A few kilometers of no man's land captured is never going to erase the absolute humiliation of losing your flagship to a shore based battery.

Update on the Moskva. I have my doubts on the Russian claim. We should have some satellite images in a few hours to verify how badly damaged she is. If she has only been crippled, I don't see why Ukraine won't launch another strike to finish her off.

Another fun fact, Russia lost 3 flagships in naval combat during the Russo Japanese War.
- Petropavlovsk, hit a mine and sunk on 13th April 1904, killing Admiral Makarov
- Tsesarevich, badly damaged at the battle of the Yellow Sea and was interned until the war's end at German controlled Tsingtao on the 10th August 1904, Admiral Vitgeft killed.
- Knyaz Suvorov, sunk 27th May 1905 during the battle of Tsushima, Admiral Rozhestvensky wounded.

Mordvichev is dead. The only evidence showing otherwise was video of Kadyrov with him supposedly in Mariupol in late March. There's been no evidence Kadyrov has been in Ukraine, and that video was almost certainly old. Tushayev might actually be alive.
I follow a bunch of Kadyrovite telegram channels. Annoying TikTok celebrities yes, but since they have 0 OPSEC, you can glean a lot of information from them. Here's Tushaev a few days ago in Mariupol.

On Mordvichev, he appeared on Russian state media a few days after the Ukrainian claim to refute allegations of his death, I don't have the link because I only saw on passing in Twitter. Here's a reliable journalist saying the same though.

Russia has enough dumb bombs, artillery shells and rockets to turn Kharkiv and the Donbas into Verdun. But to do what the Russian ultranats want (obliterate Ukrainian infrastructure) would require them to gain air superiority, something they have failed to achieve 50 days in. They simply do not have enough precision guided missiles to do it. We already see the Russians pulling out retired Tochkas from the storage bases after running out of Iskanders, soon they might even dig out the Scuds.

Fresh copium just dropped. Unable to explain why the mighty Russian army failed to take Azovstal despite relentless bombings, they have now made Osama's hideout in Tora Bora tier info graphics, including the biolabs lol.

This is good news for Ukraine's ability to stay in the fight. As far as I know, Ukrainian armor repair facilities have been targeted since the start of the war and is almost completely destroyed.

Russians wasting no time restarting "the education" of Mariupol's youth.

Or in having fake "votes". I wonder who "authorized" the people making decisions.

The former Rozivka Raion (Ukraine reorganized local administrative divisions in 2020) has only 8,000 residents. It is bordered by Donetsk Oblast on three sides, so I assume the lame excuse rationale is going to be that it's actually part of the Donbass cruely separated from its brethren by artificial lines on a map.

Extremely uncomfortable and unnatural pose by Putin during the entire meeting with Shoygu. Suggests that reports of disability or a stroke may be credible

I have also arrived to the same conclusion that the May 9th parade will likely be used as a platform to call for a mobilization and frame the war as existential for Russia.
