Perhaps the best thing that could be said about the Biden Administration is that it tried.

However, many saw the writing on the wall even before it officially started, during those tense days for America. When President Trump defiantly refused to leave office and invented allegations of vote fraud, when riots broke out on the streets and America had seemed to fall into anarchy. Eventually Trump had to leave the White House and some sense of stability had returned.

The Biden Administration had to deal with a slim Democratic majority in the House and a Senate led by Mitch McConnell, which effectively meant a gridlocked Congress. The only major legislation passed was a relief package in its early days, with the efforts of the Administration to reform healthcare or pass a package to fight climate change being blocked by the Senate GOP. And with most of their executive actions being overturned by the Courts, all it could do was simply watch as the nation went on automatic pilot.

However, the economy recovered much faster than expected from the hit given to it by the pandemic and life returned to a sense of normalcy by July 2021, with a vaccine to COVID-19 widely available, thus granting Biden a decent approval rating. As for the President himself, he became more and more absent from the spotlight during his years at the White House, and eventually announced his retirement in March 2023.

Similarly, former President Trump has announced he will not be running after years of hinting towards a candidacy. After his Presidency, he became a regular guest at Fox, OANN and Newsmax, and even hosted his own talk show for a few months. But at the end of 2022, he had a heart attack that massively decreased his ability to be in the public spotlight. Reluctantly, he decided not to run again and spent the rest of his days at Mar-a-Lago, occasionally giving interviews by phone on Fox and Friends and ranting about Sleepy Joe and his inept leadership.

With the frontrunners of both parties out of the picture, everyone is wondering, who will be our next President?

Potential Democratic candidates -
Vice President Kamala Harris (NewYorkExpress)
California Governor Gavin Newsom
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (nerd73)
UN Ambassador Pete Buttigieg
Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (Radical Leftist)
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker (jakobisgood)
Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown (GoTfan)
Georgia Governor Stacey Abrams

Potential Republican candidates -
Fmr. Vice President Mike Pence (S019)
Fmr. UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (FalterinArc)
Florida Senator Marco Rubio (CTConservative)
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker
Businessman Donald Trump Jr. (NOTTYLER)
Missouri Senator Josh Hawley (Councilor Ishan)
Texas Senator Ted Cruz

Let me know if you are interested!

Not sure if I'll have the time for this, but I might be able to play Charlie Baker.
Alright. Let me know when you decide!

First, could we get a full list of the Biden cabinet?

Second, the results of the 2022 midterms would be nice.

As for my player choice, I think I'll be the Current First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden (assuming you approve her, of course).

Yes I will write up the Cabinet and Midterms soon. As to Jill Biden, it seems a bit unrealistic given that she has had no political ambitions before. Is there anyone on the list you would consider?

I'd like to play as AOC if nobody else with more experience on the Atlas forum does.
I'll be Pence (going to try to play one of these games an R for the first time in a while)
Granted! I am going to wait a few more hours to see if anyone else wants to join then officially start the game.

Sorry, my schedule has been hectic this days and I should have been more active. It will get better in a few days.

First of all, everyone should post their speech and schedule for the first month until the 15th of November. I will address the endorsement system after that. But everyone needs to post the announcement and first schedule soon.

I didn't post an announcement speech (largely because I wanted it implied that Kamala had already announced her candidacy by May 1). Is that okay?
Sure.
However everyone should start their campaign by 15 November. I will send a PM to all players who haven't posted in the following days to inform them.

Sorry, someone else took him. Any other candidate you would like?

I will be running as AZ Senator Mark Kelly.

Could you choose someone from the list please? (Especially as Kelly was only recently elected and it is hard for me to say how much clout would he have in 2024)

I agree with Kelly being a bad choice, but it's rather unfair to force players to choose from the list you provided.

There probably are other options not on the list in both parties that would be perfectly reasonable candidates.

I will try to make some exceptions from now on, thanks for your input.

The first turn ends in 2 days, so if you want to take another candidate, you can still do so!

Opinions are always welcome but NYE, you are not the Game Moderator. I thought you wanted me to leave people alone and choose their candidates. Devout Centrist will be allowed to have the candidate he wants however as a result of their...unusualness, the polling start will be low and he will have to run a very good campaign in order to get them elected (kind of like IRL).

Just a quick question, I had started on my May schedule but wasn't able to finish it before the deadline. Can I include my May and June schedule in one post?
Yes

I will publish the official endorsement list at the end of the turn, but you can still use your endorsers during this one if I approved them.
