The picture's depressing, but the quote is excellent (and can be applied to so many things).

The cartoon says it all.

That's from some late 19th century comic opera, right? I think a piece of the same song is quoted in Three Men in a Boat, actually.

Okay...how the hell did you know that it was from a "late 19th century comic opera" (English language, yet!) and not know the name "Gilbert & Sullivan?"  That's like referring to a Kleenex as a facial tissue!  It would be like saying "All You Need Is Love" was by some mid-20th century rock band!

(No offense intended, I've just gone into snob mode...I'll return to Earth now)

But yes, the HMS Pinafore (where Sir Joseph Porter, KCB, the monarch of the sea, the Ruler of the Queen's Navee is from) is one of my all time favorites, as is The Mikado (my namesake), both of which feature brilliant political satire.

John McCain drives a Ford? Why would he drive an American made car. We all know they'd break down as soon as you put it in gear Wink.

Nice quote by a cool poet.

Sir Joseph Porter's a fictional character, but the person he was based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Henry_Smith_%28politician%29 was a Tory member of Disraeli's cabinet.

As for yours...excellent.  Who did that painting?

The two stick figures look like they are in an insane asylum.

Cameron certainly looks better than Gordon Brown.  I won't comment on the substance.

Tired of Debs.

Gilbert and Sullivan were interesting characters.

As was Wilde, at whom my signature (and Sir Gilbert) pokes fun.

What's your favorite Oscar Wilde work?  I've always loved Lady Windermere's Fan and The Importance of Being Ernest.
