He wouldn't have gotten the nomination, but that's not the reason.

Today he wouldn't be able to keep his A. status as an incredibly ill man and B. his constant affairs secret.

Kennedy could barely climb a flight of stairs and was supported at all times by taking tremendous amounts of speed to distract from his crippling pain. This isn't someone who could survive in the 21st century political world.

I always thought that it'd be cool to have an alt-history timeline where Kennedy isn't shot...and dies of natural causes in 1964. He was a very, very sick man. I'm kind of curious whether Kennedy dying of natural causes has a different effect on the Camelot mystique than Kennedy getting shot did.
