A couple of fun facts:

The next two opponents Germany will face are Ghana and the United States.

In the first match, the team of Jerome Boateng (Germany) will be pitted against the team of his brother Kevin-Prince Boateng (Ghana).

In the second match, the team of German national coach Jogi Löw will face the team of his immediate predecessor as German national coach, Jürgen Klinsmann. Furthermore, Löw had originally served as assistant coach under Klinsmann, until he became his successor. We'll see who's now the master and who's the apprentice. Tongue

Another goal for Uruguay and I will have won another six points in my workplace's tipping competation. Unlike this forum, there are about 100 Euros to win. Tongue

A Spiegel Online article speculates that the Ramadan - which starts today - could give Germany an advantage in the upcoming match against Algeria.

On the day of the game, Algerian players will only be allowed to eat and drink about half a hour after the match has already started. That is if the Algerians follow the rules of the Ramadan to the letter. German Muslim players Mesut Özil and Sami Khedira don't give a f**k and do not intend to fast during the world cup.

Why is it that this German team has a habit of destroying the lusophone countries?

The last time Germany played against Argentina in a finale they became world champion. Then again, the last time Argentina became world champion they played against Germany in the finale. Tongue

Among the 23 members of the German team, there's only a single East German player right now either (Toni Kroos). For all intents and purposes, this is West Germany.

(Granted, without Kroos Germany would have only won 5:1 against Brazil. Tongue )

Jürgen Sparwasser, the East German player who made the goal against West Germany in that game, later fled to West Germany himself and became a coach for a couple of West German clubs.

Germany won the world cup in a 1-0 match against Argentina? Sounds familiar. Cheesy

Weird Merkel pic, after the finale:

Later that night, the German team dumped the Chancellor for Rihanna - quite understandable:

All of Germany debates: Does the "gaucho dance" mean that the German national football players are Nazis?

Well, not really all of Germany... but it's a sign that it is summer, the world cup is over, the Bundestag is on vacation and the silly season has officially begun!

Costa Rica was moved up 12 ranks (and surpassed Mexico), for obvious reasons I think.

England fell 10 ranks and is now significantly behind the US *lol*

I didn't want to imply that the ranking of England in relation to the United States is necessarily incorrect. It's just ironic IMO.

Speaking of confederations, the OFC is a total joke and has no reason to exist, especially since Australia left. It's only because of the OFC that the last FIFA Confederations Cup had so exciting matches like Spain vs. Tahiti (which Spain won 10-0) or Uruguay vs. Tahiti (which Uruguay won 8-0).

Just merge it with the AFC to form a Asian-Pacific Football Confederation or something. The OFC could even be maintained as the sixth sub-confederation of the APFC.
