Hopefully the standoff ends with dead bad guy....unless he has intel on compatriots that we couldn't get from other evidence.

I hope this will end soon and with the least deaths possible.

I hope he and his compatriots are caught, interrogated, given reduced sentences if they cooperate and (if found guilty in a fair trial) sentenced to death if they do not.

France has no death penalty.



I know; in my post, I was also referring to my belief that France should change that.

Still, in order to apply the death penalty to the Toulouse terrorists it would have to be reestablished through an ex post facto law. To retroactively increase the maximum sentence for a crime is considered unconstitutional in most democratic countries of the world, among them France.
