I find the quote very true and concerning, to be honest.

Don't be a dolt. Every culture likes to pretend that its "collective morals" decay over time, because that justifies a harsher clamping-down-on of the populace.
I'm just referring to the quote itself in its context, not morals as a whole. Nor am I suggesting any action be taken. It is unfortunate the loss of respect as a universal attribute is going by without the blink of an eye. Any civilized society should have that much and it's something that should transcend politics.
This has been said for the past four thousand years. I don't see any evidence.
