Looks like Edwards still has strong support in the Texas panhandle.
Thats good, right? The racist, conservative Dems will make up his vote, yes?
Yes, I wouldn't say Racist though....

Contrary to what you think, there ARE rasicts in the Democratic party. Holdovers from the Solid South days, mostly.

So do they just throw in all the early votes to one precinct or something? Because at the current rate there'd be somewhere in the range of 70-80 million voters in the Texas Democratic primary, which I find fairly unlikely

I'd assume that's the case, but I'm not very knowledgable about these things.

Of course there are some, but I would say that farmers in the Panhandle are not racist compared to those in Eastern Texas.

Have you been to the panhandle? Neither have I, so we're not qualified to talk about this.

people aged 65+ in Ohio: 70-29 Clinton

ughhhh.....  old people

At least they'll vote Democratic in the GE.

I'm still looking for an explanation for Gillespie County.

Uh, they're the base. They always turn out.

20% of precincts are reporting in Loving County. That means they have 5 precincts or more. If I didn't know about what goes on there, I'd be incredulous at that many precincts in a county without a single public school.

Uh, they're the base. They always turn out.

Roll Eyes

Uh, thanks. I was saying that they might not vote Dem in the General.
[/quote]

If they turn out every year to vote in the Democratic Primary, why wouldn't they vote Democratic?

Gillespie County - Germans, Germans, Germans.  My parents have a place up there.  Republican stronghold since the Civil War.

But Romney? Followed by Huckabee, PAUL, and then McCain?

I frankly think that anyone talking about racism from a place they've probably never been to or from people they've never met is just pure bulls*** and they're trying to explain off certain results. Act like adults people.

Me and EMD aren't adults. Sorry.

A few more results in Ohio, but no real change. I wonder what's happening there.

Uh, what? Whites turn out in the Dem primary. Whites tend to vote Republican.

This is such a mind numbing conversation.

But whites aren't a voting bloc.

And you're right. It is. Neither of us get what the other is saying.

Kind of odd, considering German Catholics are more moderate nowdays, than English Evangelicals.

Those folks ain't moderate, cowboy.  Though I seem to remember LaFollette performing well there.

Interestingly enough - who was born in Gillespie County?

That's the Hill Country? Its politics are completely different from the impression I got from reading Caro.

Well I meant in the Midwest, German Catholics are the Moderate Republicans, while Scandinavian Protestants are Liberal Democrats, and English Evangelicals are Conservative Republicans.
That could be regional though.

Not here - most of the folks who settled in German Texas were from Bavaria and Bohemia.  Not northern Germany.

And that's where the Catholics are from.

Looking at the OH and TN border counties, KY and WV are going to be 2:1 Clinton.

Anything special here?

Two things... first off, I think even most Democrats would admit that saying McCain wants to follow the same exact course as Bush is a blatant straw man... secondly, I am starting to realize that Obama always gives the same speech.

Blah Blah Blah hope.  Blah, Blah, Blah Change.

You just realized? I did when I saw that his great Iowa victory speech was the same thing as his 2004 DNC speech.

Note that I do support Obama.
