By my own vote-counting, three people are going to vote against the bill creating this (Ebowed, Friz, Jake), with one more likely to (Mr. Moderate). This puts the bill in serious danger, and therefore, I will start this, government sanction or no. Look for regular updates in this thread.

can't you wait for it to fail to do this? We still have a majority for the legislation to pass, by my count.

My count:

Opposed:

Ebowed
Jake
Friz
Sam Spade
Mr. Moderate

Supporting:

Sensei
Verily
SoS
Afleitch
Bacon King

We'll have to wait on the Vice President.

Live from Baltimore, Maryland...

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Radio Atlasia. I'm your host, Xahar.

Today, on the Mideast ballot for February, a low-key debate has been going on. Lt. Governor Constine proposed a bill allowing for absentee voting via PM, but Fmr. Senator MasterJedi and Fmr. Governor Inks have raised questions over the possibility of voter fraud.

The Progressive Liberal Convention is currently taking place here in Baltimore. The PLP candidate for the Pacific Senate seat, Xahar, delivered the keynote speech, calling for the abolition of the cabinet and the reestablishment of the Progressive Caucus, while Vice Chairman Polnut tendered his resignation from his post. So far, Xahar and Governor HappyWarrior have been nominated for Vice-Chair, by Lt. Governor Constine and Chairman Sensei, respectively.

A heated debate has been raging over Senator Speed of Sound's Creation of a National Public Radio Bill, calling for federal recognition of and control over this station. Radio Atlasia's preliminary count has Verily, Sensei, Speed of Sound, Afleitch, and BaconKing supporting, with Ebowed, Friz, Jake, Sam Spade, and Mr. Moderate in the opposition. The stance of Vice President Jas, whose casting vote seems necessary to break the tie, is uncertain.

This is Xahar, saying thanks for listening, and good night from Charm City.

If the bill passes, how do you know the President will appoint you for the position?

I'll ask him nicely. Smiley

If that doesn't work, I'll gladly step aside.

Hopefully the President will appoint Xahar.  If the bill passes, then I will lobby the President, and I hope other Atlasians will do the same.

Even if the bill fails, I hope it is reintroduced in the next Senate, which will pass it.

If this establishes itself as reliable, neutral, and good; I might consider merging Emirates News into this.

That would be fine by me.

Today in the Mideast: , has been reached on the Absentee Ballot Act, introducing it as a Constitutional Amendment.

Live from San Francisco, California...

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Radio Atlasia. I'm your host, Xahar.

Of course, the big news item is the Progressive Primaries. Senator Sensei has won the Progressive Convention unanimously, after a boycott by Vice President Jas and his delegates.

The row stems from the earlier dropout of Fmr. Gov. Polnut from the presidential race. Progressive Primary organizer, EarlAW, decided to give Polnut's votes to his running mate, Sensei. He then gave Polnut's supporters 3 hours for complaints.

Several objections were raised to this. The first was the fact that all of Polnut's votes counted for Sensei. Earl defended his decision by citing time constraints. Another was the fact that only three hours were permitted to lodge a complaint. The third objection was that only Polnut supporters could lodge a complaint.

Given that Senator Ebowed has hinted at starting a new primary without "many of the inactive Red Avatars and various randoms bused in by over-eager newbies who don't have much regard for good election manners", it remains to be seen whether the Progressive Primary will be returning in any significant form the next elections.

This is Xahar, saying thanks for listening, and good night from the City by the Bay.

In the interests of staying unbiased, I have not mentioned the dispute between myself and the Senator from District 5. I shall leave that to one of my staff members.

Current Senatorial Returns. Incumbents are bold, non-incumbents from the incumbent party are italicized, write-ins are underlined.

Northeast:
Verily 11

Mideast:
Meekermariner 4
MasterJedi 4

Southeast:
Cookies and Milk 2
Sam Spade 1
Brandon H 1
gporter 1

Midwest:
Hughento 2
Speed of Sound 1

Pacific:
Friz 2
Xahar 1

Turnout has been relatively high in all regions except for the Midwest and Pacific. The Mideast race is very close, and may well go either way. In the Southeast, a write-in campaign for incumbent Sam Spade has been organized, and Cookies and Milk, the only candidate on the ballot, may not get the win that he was seemingly assured.
