Take a step back. Take a deep breath. Now think. Think hard. Some of you don't do it nearly enough.

What does any of this matter? None of this affects most of you. Sure as hell, none of it affects me in any significant way. Will you care about this in 50 years? Will you care about this in 15 years? No, of course you won't. Change is inevitable. Whether you support this or not, whether this passes or fails, things will keep going, the inevitable stream of history will not stop, and one day, you'll look back, and you won't be able to imagine things any other way. It's what's going to happen. Now stop acting as if this is so damned important.

Are you watching what they say in Congress? I know you are. You're repeating it, too. Guess what. They don't mean what they say. Self-righteous anger is their job. It's what they're paid to do. I know some of you want to go down that road. You can exaggerate and grandstand all you want then. But spare us now. None of you are there yet, except muon, and he never posts anything political. More likely than not, none of you will ever be there.

When the history of this era is written, will this be there? No. Of course it won't. Whatever change is wrought will not be done in the chambers of the United States Congress. If you think it will, you're both incredibly naive, and have a disgustingly Amerocentric view of things. You ought to fix that.

And now you folk will respond to this thread in the same way you've been flaming in all the other threads. That's because you don't get it. You ought to get it if you want to be anything like many of you think you are, if you want to be those Übermenschen some of you talk about. Think about your life, and how it reflects on your surroundings, and how it will do so in the future. Look at the bigger picture. Learn about the world.

Just stop acting like such tools. That's all it is, in the end. Don't throw out any more buzzwords like "freedom" or "socialism". Think about what they mean. Think about why they are. Just think.

Yeah, because you told Democrats to calm down when Bush tried to overhaul social security Roll Eyes

Your assumptions are amusing.

I was not particularly politically cognizant at the time.
