A CNN article about how Russia may not have a overall theater commander in charged of the invasion.

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/21/politics/us-russia-top-military-commander-ukraine-war/index.html

Quote
The US has been unable to determine if Russia has designated a military commander responsible for leading the country's war in Ukraine, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter — something that current and former defense officials say is likely a key contributor to the apparent clumsiness and disorganization of the Russian assault.
Without a top, theater-wide commander on the ground in or near Ukraine, units from different Russian military districts operating in different parts of Ukraine appear to be competing for resources rather than coordinating their efforts, according to two US defense officials.
Units participating in different Russian offensives across Ukraine have failed to connect, these sources say, and in fact, appear to be acting independently with no overarching operational design.

And a good twitter thread by Mark Hertling where he also talks about the seeming lack of a theater commander.

Was just about to post that. If true though this has to be one of the largest military disasters Russia has experienced at least since ww2.

How many do you think they will need to lose before they give up? 200000 is now 160000.
With luck maybe we've already reached that point and it's only a matter of time until Putin is deposed and his replacement takes Russia out of Ukraine or I'm just being overly optimistic.

Bruh moment.

Come now doesn't Ukraine understand the "special military operation" is supposed to be in Ukraine not Russia.

Here's what Politico has to say on the matter.

Quote
A decision on the matter was initially expected this week. But it’s now in limbo as the Social Democrat chancellor — much to the frustration of his governing coalition partners — argues Germany should first reach a common position with Western allies on the subject before delivering such heavy military equipment, the officials said.

“We’re setting in motion everything that’s right and sensible,” the chancellor told the Bundestag on Wednesday when asked about tank deliveries. Yet Scholz added that it was important for him to coordinate among EU and NATO partners to ensure “that we provide such military support in the same way, and that no one is rushing ahead — including Germany.”

He added: “I believe that this is precisely an issue where it would be a grave mistake for Germany to take a special role and a special path.”

A nice article where it's admitted that the US has been providing real time intelligence to Ukraine's forces and just how much equipment we've been providing to Ukraine.

Quote
Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Austin was asked whether the US was providing intelligence to help Ukraine carry out attacks against Russian forces in the separatist-controlled Donbas region or Crimea.
"We are providing them intelligence to conduct operations in the Donbas, that's correct," Austin said in response to the question from Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

Quote
Milley testified that US and NATO countries have provided roughly 60,000 anti-tank weapons and 25,000 anti-aircraft weapons to Ukraine. He said that the US is looking at how it can provide Ukraine with additional armor and artillery as the war drags on, but said that it was key to find systems that Ukrainian forces would not need to be trained on, noting many US weapons systems would require months of training.

What is Macron thinking? The Serbs were closer to Bosniaks than the Russians are to Ukrainians, but that didn't stop them from doing the genocide at Srebrenica.

Not only is he against calling it a genocide but he's against it because of reasons that sound like it came straight from the Kremlin's own talking points.

How are they losing so many commanders?
From what i understand the Russian military doctrine doesn't encourage innovation among its officers instead preferring soldiers and officers to do strictly what they're told which meant that as the Russian army begin to run into trouble at the beginning of the war the generals had to go to the front lines to get a read on the situation and subsequently opened themselves up to being targeted by Ukraine.

I'd also imagine the intelligence failure that Russia has been experiencing since before the war even started also probably doesn't help the life expectancy of Russian generals.

Separatists not happy about Russian treatment of Ukrainian civilians or something?
Probably. I'm sure a lot of them have have family in the areas being fought over. Also remember seeing something on either this forum or another one about men from the separatist regions being drafted and forced to fight.

So is Russia finally being open about the fact that Ukraine destroyed it?
