This. The Trump-era GOP is conform or die. Olympia Snowe does not survive 2018; she's either forced out a la Jeff Flake or she loses reelection by taking one too many unpopular party-line votes.
I rather think she would've left the Republican Party (she was actually endangered in her primary 2012 before she chose not to run) and still caucused with them. Wouldn't have cost her election, Maine likes their independents, especially Olympia Snowe (see 2012 polls, she would have likely cruised to reelection). She'd be some kind of Republican Angus King.
