Though the death penalty remains "in force", there have actually been no executions in Russia since the 1990s. Recently there has been talk of changing this, but it is still only talk thus far.

Well as it happens the Urals, Caucasus and Bosporus make pretty logical European boundaries - which is probably why the generally accepted definition of the continent is at least along those lines.

India is regularly referred to as a "sub-continent", which is the next best thing.
