Map as of now. Dark red= cases and deaths, red= cases, pink= potential cases. Source: TV, Interwebs, Viquipèdia.

Clearly this is a secret Al-Qaeda plot intended to destroy all of Western civilization.

Here we are, punished by "Allah", Mohamed told it to us, pork is "haram", we didin't want to listen, and here we are...

Hmm, I think the main sickness of Ségolène Royal is the fact to always wanna be at the center of the media, in that sens , yes, that could be one of her coups.

But, if so, in France, she failed. Yes, amusingly, today I've seen something on TV were guys wondered why French media weren't as alarmist as other ones, funny. The fact that we haven't yet some flu cases might explain the thing, I don't know. France! Always apart! Yeah!

I've also seen CNN's stuffs on this and it reminds me that US really seems to be fascinated by doom that loom, damn some stuffs seemed kinda the Blair Witch Project.

Question, Hash:

Are you worried/scared/concerned yourself? Be honest!

By now, I don't know if it is the conditioning of media here, but I feel just a bit concerned.

No one like the name of that flu:

It's not only in US, in France and Europe pork producers claim for the same thing.

It seems that this flu comes from the very bad conditions there are in pig farms near Mexico city. Let's hope that this will be used as a lesson to improve the breeding conditions of all kind of animals in general. We're in a trendy "green" context, let's hope.

Well, the Mexican government got naming rights, and its not like they were going to call it "Mexican flu" and absolutely decimate their tourism for the next decade/forever if its big. The only other thing that blame could be put upon was the pigs.

How about 'Media Flu'? That's what seems to be spreading it....

That's the damn best name by now.

Well, the Mexican government got naming rights, and its not like they were going to call it "Mexican flu" and absolutely decimate their tourism for the next decade/forever if its big. The only other thing that blame could be put upon was the pigs.

Hmm, let's be accurate: "Bad conditions in pig farms flu".

Well, today, I saw a medical show on TV. Pretty interesting, wanting to be clear, accurate, pedagogic, as much the presenters as the specialists/doctors. They insisted on the fact, that actually, it wasn't more dangerous than the "normal" flu, which, as someone pointed out here, kill thousands of people every year without a "Media flu". That's for the dangerousness of the thing.

Concerning its propagation they say we have to stay vigilant but not to panic. One of the good cautions to take is to regularly washing the hands, as Obama said yesterday. The biggest problem would come from the fact that everyone goes to emergencies at the same time, making them out of working.

They say we have the solutions to cure the virus as it is now, as it works as a normal flu, so before any mutations. They say that the rates of contamination are 1 person can contaminate 2, but only if they have close contacts, for example, at more than one meter chances are very low.

Concerning the comparison with 1918 Spanish flu (euh, what, you're Spanish and you disagree with that name?...Oh please...shhhh), they say that in 1918, we didn't know what was a virus, we also didn't know antibiotics, and so we also didn't know treatments against viruses we have now, so according to them that's out of comparison.

The only thing which until know tends to make me a bit worry, it is that I've heard that some sell bad tamiflu on the net, some with a lower active dose of what fight the virus. Through all that people in panic, some could buy some  because they cough. The problem being that the low dose wouldn't kill the virus but would give it the key to be adapted to the medicine. That's the only thing that tended to worry me until now. Maybe if there were cases in France I would feel a bit more concerned, I don't know.

any chance parts of the EU enact travel restrictions? (For example flights from the US to the UK?)

France claimed for the stop of flights to Mexico. EU refused.
