A girl singing with her guitar down the window, kinda Joan Baez style, it's pretty pleasant actually.

Funny, I was thinking about that one lately. Here is a better version, he was probably badly influenced by those people speaking Dutch in yours:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij1vtzIFlMg&feature=related

By the way, Charles Trénet is considered as one of the very big singers France had. And, about this song, he has been criticized for singing it to Nazis during Nazi occupation, the song describes a very neat and lovely France of his childhood, ones would think it would be a kind of description of a 'Nazi sanitized paradise', something like that, but, as he said, and I think I would give credit to him for it, for him it was an act of Résistance in the sense that he was speaking about how France was good when Nazis were not here. I like the song anyhow, along with other Trénet's ones.

Made me think to an other song about France, ironically I was thinking about that one too lately:

C'est ça la France - Marc Lavoine

Lyrics aren't so bad...

A cute classic of Marc Lavoine:

Elle a les yeux revolver

Yeaaaaaah

This song of Sexion d'assaut can make think to some sanitized rap, kinda some RnB, but Sexion d'Assaut is not a sanitized group to say the least:

Freestyle, begins at 3'30''.

La douille, lol, wow, as they say in French 'C'est du lourd'.

Wati bon son feat Dry, funny as sometimes it actually has accents like from an African tribe war song.

Wati by night

The silence from this sunny middle of afternoon Sunday. It's impressive how Sundays can be silencious sometimes. Not unpleasant. And it brought me on this:

Maréva Galanter is just about my idea of sexy...

She is Tahitian, former Miss France, hmm, maybe 1999 iirc. She came into singing like other people who become a bit famous come into singing nowadays, her 'Laisse tomber les filles' is a cover from the '60s.

I have this song in the head:

La vie ne m'apprend rien - Daniel Balavoine

The refrain of this song can sometimes be a good description of me, and has during a time been a literal one, which was funny is that when it was a literal one, this spontaneously popped in my head before I even figured out that it literally matched with me.

From someone who wouldn't be into rap music, I guess it would be a good compliment for those rap singers, classical pieces of French rap, especially IAM's, then rather old ones too.

Dutronc isn't a bad choice either, my favorite one from him is 'Il est 5h Paris s'éveille', but in term of lyrics 'L'opportuniste' and '700 millions de chinois' are not bad too. And anyhow he has the merit to have been one of the rare French singers of the 60s who didn't become famous by making some French covers from some American artists of the same epoch, which is something (dear, when we look at all the french hits of the epoch that are only covers, I'm not even sure most people were, and even today, aware of that...). Luckily we still had good original ones, like him, or Aznavour, Brel...

Rap from North of France:

NORSIDE - Axiom and others
Lille ma medina - Axiom

And from the North of Marseille:

On Lachera Pas L'Ghetto - Puissance Nord, amusing how it kinda looks and sounds 70s.

Mitt Romney speaking French: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyP2M0DTch8&feature=related

Better than 90% of Canadian Conservative Party MPs and Stephen Harper.

And more comprehensible than some Québequois as well. Grin

Not bad actually, though it has a kind of 'translator bot' tone, which might be due to the exercise he's practicing
