Can I be blunt for a second and point out that a lot of elite colleges recruit a ton of international students, including quite a few children of very wealthy Saudi/Emirati/other Gulf Arab elites?

I think people often assume all these student groups are domestic when there's a lot...a LOT...of international students from countries that despise Israel involved in political groups at this sort of top college.
perhaps colleges need to start weeding these people out.  Assuming there are non-bigots from these places who want to go to university in the US.

edit-on second thought, the academics in charge of admission probably want more bigots to come, and, as always, it's about the money.  The bigots have the money in sh**t hole countries.

Lots of projection in this thread. Some in Academia sympathize with the Palestinians because it's clear they got screwed over by the post WWII alliance and that Israel is an apartheid state that is slowly but surely grabbing more land and displacing more Palestinians. It's not really more complicated than that.
When American Jews are being harassed and threatened...yeah no  that excuse. I'm sick of the far-left acting like this isn't a problem.

It is obviously a serious problem but I was not speaking to that. The idea that academia only supports Palestenians because of "skin color" or "opressor/opressed" dynamics is nonsense and honestly just sounds like projection.

It's perfectly understandable to know why the state of Israel exists especially after WWII and the holocaust. It's even understandable why Israeli leaders have been so militant about security and firmly establishing their homeland. But none of this changes the fact that the holocaust was caused by white Europeans, that all of the world major powers were really no help to the Jewish people, and then thought the best solution was to screw over another group of people to absolve themselves of the damage they caused.

It's a very difficult conflict but what happened is not difficult to understand. And to not understand how academia is against militarism, settler colonialism, war crimes, and a nationwide racist legal structure means you are projecting.
even if this is all true, IT DOESN'T MAKE IT OK TO THREATEN AMERICAN JEWS!  Sorry for yelling.  You may now return to handwaving that away.

what do the "give peace a chance" people say to the "from the river to the sea" people at the rallies?  You would assume they'd be on opposite sides, ya know, 'cause they want two very different things, but they seem to be on the same side.  If I were to throw a peace rally and those bigots showed up, I'd be super pissed.

less than a month before she celebrated murdering babies, she was writing articles about Why Penn should protect its students from colonial backlash, Palestinian and Arab students deserve to feel more safe on campus.  Does she want students to feel safe? nah, she just wants students that look and think like her to feel safe on campus.

these kids today just don't understand how this "lesser evil" thing is supposed to work.  Sometimes (all of the time) you have to vote for someone "who isn't quite perfect".  But much more frequently you are asked to vote for someone "who isn't quite as perfectly horrible as the other guy".  Some of them have to be reminded that this next election "is the most important election in history!" every 2 or 4 years.  Can't let that other guy win, even.one.time.
