Why is that a good thing?  Agricultural jobs are hard, dangerous and don't pay very well.  The family farm is dying and I've yet to hear somebody come up with some good examples as to why that's a bad thing.

Patenting of common crop varieties in order to charge small farmers the world over a premium for using the same seeds they've always used.
But they are not the same seeds they've always used, they were genetically engineered for crazy high yields and other benefits to the farmer.  The people that go to all the trouble to make these better seeds need to get paid for it don't they?  Nobody is forcing farmers to buy their seed are they?  They have more than one option don't they?

Again, they are not being forced to buy genetically modified seed.  They could do what they've always done and create their own seed, but they make more money buying the GM seed because the yields are so freaking high.

Family farms are horrible on the environment too.  Also, you lose the fertilizer, food costs will rise.  But yeah, this isn't a good thing overall and something should probably be done about it.

Since any jackass in 95% of the country can grow plenty of tomatoes every summer (and tens of millions do) I don't find there to be shortage of quality tomatoes.  But I don't eat the nasty things so I have no idea really.  I've never had a healthy looking strawberry that sucked.yes

No it's not, but if all farming was was sitting on a tractor you might be on to something.  It's not.  You have to dick with heavy machinery.  You have to dick with large animals that out weigh you 5 to 1.  It's hard, it's dangerous and there isn't a modern hospital 5 minutes away.
ALL subsidies should be eliminated.
So you're ready to give up the child tax credit?
Yeah..of course....what else you got?

I think we're using the word "dying" when we really shouldn't be.  There will continue to be small, family owned farms.  That culture is hurting, has been hurting for 200 hundred years and will continue to hurt, but it ain't going to disappear.
