Pardon me please, if I turn to be an ignorant, but isn't HW running in Mideast?

Also, Snowguy is Oakvale's running-mate.

Found their declarations.

Just a quick question, what time will voting be open on the 18th and what time will the voting end? I have a thing for school I need to do that day.

Voting will commence at midnight on Thursday night and remain open for precisely 72 hours.

This is the relevant part of the Constitution for elections. Elections that I have run in the past have always begun at 0:00 on Friday morning, but I intend to commence voting at a different time in this election.

Voting shall commence at 17:00 (or 5pm) Eastern time tomorrow afternoon. This will make it possible for me to be able to post the voting booth at the same time as voting is scheduled to commence, and it will also allow me to be present for certification when voting closes on Sunday night. Don't forget where your SoFE is working from...

As the candidate declaration period has expired, I will be posting an absentee voting booth shortly. Anyone that desires an absentee ballot should feel free to request one in this thread.

Happy voting everyone!

Your request is granted. You may post your vote in the absentee voting booth at your convenience once it is posted a few minutes.

What is the procedure for misspelled votes where the intent is obvious?

Voter intent is judged by the Dept. of Forum Affairs when certifying the election. If the spelling error causes no confusion as to who was meant to receive the vote, I will count it.

Since one voter has already voted absentee, I don't think it'd be a good thing t o change the ballot now.....but it's not that important for you, is it? Smiley

Since when do elections start on Thursdays?

Elections, per the Constitution, may begin anytime between 0:00 on Thursday and 0:01 on Friday.

There seems to be some confusion regarding Earl's and ECR's vote.

In ECR's case, I believe a valid vote was cast. When ECR voted, he fulfilled all necessary requirements to cast a ballot. His banning doesn't affect that.

Earl cast a vote for Oakvale/Ogis. I believe a legitimate argument can be made for allowing and disallowing it. I haven't reached a conclusion yet whether it can legitimately be interpreted to mean mean the Oakvale ticket or not. The complexity is increased because members of two tickets are included in the vote. One could reasonably conclude that the vote was a write-in for a ticket that did not declare. Haven't made a decision yet.

Stay tuned!

Again, I'm not really sure if posting twice in the thread is against the rules or not, but just in case and so that Franzl can do his job properly I took a screenshot before JM deleted his post: http://i.imgur.com/C55V0.png

I appreciate your help (really, it's good for events like this to be documented).

That said, it is my opinion that the simple act of posting twice in a voting booth does not affect the validity of that person's actual vote. Indeed, the law recognizes legitimate purposes for making more than one post (such as if you vote in the wrong region for Senate). This isn't thd case here, but it shows that posting twice is not something forbidden by law.

Add to that that the precedence seems to be on Jake Matthews side.

The Dept. of Federal Elections intends to count the vote.

The first preferences have all been counted. Transfers still to follow.

Expect certification for President in less than 30 minutes (I hope), and the Senate races slightly later.

And a final note:

Congratulations to everyone that participated in this election, whether you won or lost. I enjoyed running this election! It's always excellent to see Atlasians participating in our democratic system, and it's great to be a part of it.

Considering how close some of the races were (especially in my own region where one voter could have potentially changed the outcome), it is visible once again how important each and every individual voter is. Keep that in mind in the future, and make sure your voice is heard!

Was ECR actually a valid voter? I didn't think he had enough posts, regardless of the ban.

He made tons of posts in February after his "return". I double checked him.

I don't personally remember it going to 25... But I don't doubt your word, Marokai. Couldn't find anything when I just looked about 25 posts being necessary. Does anyone know what it really is?

OK, I apologize for the error then Smiley

The certification will be adjusted to discount ECR's vote. (After I take one last look...I feel like 15 is "right"....facts=bad! Wink)

Thanks Marokai.
