Could someone please update me on the latest ?

I was working until now.

Obama campaign agreed to let Florida count for half. Nelson said he'd be on board as well, and the Clinon Rep said she'd like all but could live with half. The only remaining disagreement seems to be whether superdelegates should have full or half votes.

Then a bunch of Clinton supporters on the Committee and in the crowd got angry and pissy.

Ahh, thx. Good, Good. I could live with 50-50. Do you know when the Committee will vote on the issues ?

They were planning to hear all arguments in the morning and then go to lunch at 12:30. It's 12:30 right now and they just started Michigan. So they're running a bit behind.

One they finish Michigan I suspect they'll break for lunch (maybe not depending on how long this takes), but then the afternoon debate and voting could go well into the evening some are saying. Yesterday I heard someone guessing that it'll go through Sunday.

I think I heard Clinton support at 13 the other day. The Clinton supporters are more vocal and angry though.

Mark Brewer's voice sounds a bit like Jack Kemp.

I read on Ambinder's blog that Carl Levin will be speaking at some point today (he hasn't already, has he?).  Can't wait to see the fireworks over IA & NH's priveleged status when that happens.

Levin is next, representing the State of Michigan.

The problem here is that Florida is a-ok with getting half votes, but Michigan isn't and there's the problem with Uncommitted. And then Florida isn't going to want to get a worse deal than Michigan which will cause them to want to renegotiate...

F**ck you Michigan. Take your half votes and be happy.

Did he just say the Clinton campaign accepts a 73-55 split? Isnt that acceptable for Obama?

No. Obama wants a 64-64 split

So the current motion is to seat the Florida delegation in full. It will obviously be defeated. I suspect next a motion will be made to seat the delegates with a half vote, and it will then be passed.

Is only a simple majority needed?

That's my understanding.

Ooh, one of the DNC members from Washington is speaking. On the righteous side of things of course.

I suppose disenfranchisement of 850,000 people is coming off well?

You need to stop posting. You're embarrassing yourself.

You're the one embarrassing yourself. You are officially joining a camp of not counting votes. You're unAmerican. We don't disenfranchise people in America. I will give leeway with Michigan, but absolutely not for Florida.

Democrats can no longer claim to have any moral authority over voting rights.

Follow the rules and we count your votes. Kthnxbye.

And I'm just shocked to see a Clinton supporter using Republican talking points. Shocked I say.

Both half votes.

By the way, if anyone needed any more proof, the Clintons are no longer in control of the Democratic Party.

You're using republican tactics of disenfranchisement to win an election and Obama has been using their tactics, and so has Hillary, this whole campaign.

I will support Obama as a nominee. Until he's the nominee, I will fight for my choice.

I'm using Democratic tactics of following the rules as they are laid out.

And I'm glad that you will remain loyal to the party. Thank you.

I just tuned back in...what's the proposal currently under discussion?

Michigan 69-59 with half votes. They passed Florida proportionally with half votes.
