These Virginia Greens aren't associated with the national Greens currently, hence the name Independent Green party. In fact they've never been associated with the national Green Party - the only reason they have Green in their name is too confuse voters who want to vote for Greens. Think of them as the Independence Party of Minnesota or New York. The actually Virginia Greens can be found here: http://www.vagreenparty.org/

Alcon is basically right though. The party has gone completely obsessive on mass transit and overall a bit cuckoo.

Yeah, they are almost totally one-issue.  On paper they sound great, but other than a relatively strong (I think) U.S. Senate candidate (who people were afraid would spoil the election for Webb), they're pretty much the marijuana party except with buses.

Kind of a shame...although good for the Virginia Democrats.  "Green" in the name + libertarian + NoVa transportation centric = nightmare for the Dems there if they were a reputable party.

Interestingly, some supporters of George Allen (possibly even him himself, I can't recall exactly) claim that it was the Independent Greens who cost Allen the election.

Parker's showings correlated pretty well with Nader's, and she didn't do well in Fairfax.  I think that indicates that voters weren't paying attention (surprise surprise) and that Allen's people are full of crap Tongue

Well, no matter. The important thing is...

Let's vote for Gail!
She's for light rail!
Vote Gail Parker US Senate!
She's independent!
She won't forget it!
